Hello,

I have a question. I received an E-mail from a Yahoo-Group, which contained a warning.

I am a little bit scared about it, becuase it says:

"Group members have been arrested, and many more are under
investigation. If you've ever joined or even visited any
hardcore Adult Groups, you risk the FBI calling on you and
confiscating your computer to check it for porn images."

Is it really possible that someone can be arrested for visiting a Yahoo Group?

Can anyone tell me what I should do. Because I am member of several Groups.

Should I leave the Groups?

Yours sincerely

Edmont

Thank you for the question!

The e-mail you received is a HOAX, perpetrated by the makers of sleazy "history washing" software who are trying to scare people into buying a garbage product.

Yes, some people WERE arrested last year for using Yahoo Groups to exchange hard-core child porn, so that much of the story is true. However, the kind of images that are found at most adult groups (such as mine 😉 ) are fully legal, and you should have no problems as long as you avoid sites which feature underage models or obviously illegal material (incest, scat, etc.).

BTW, if you are really interested in non-junk privacy software, I recommend www.webattack.com , which has a wide variety of reputable, fully tested freeware AND shareware 🙂

Best wishes,

If the FBI arrested anyone who ever looked at porn, the entire country would be in the clink.

All I can add to this is to beware of a person with a nick/yahoo ID of 'nylonbein' (or something like that). Last week I was up on Yahoo IM and got a message from this person asking me if I had any 'nylon/stockings' pics. He said he got my ID from one of the groups I am in. I replied that I did have a few pics, but wasn't really into the nylon thing. He asked me to join his Yahoo group and post the pic's. I figured, okay why not...joined the group and uploaded the pics. After doing so I started to cruise around a bit and found, to my astonishment, that there were pics of very young girls there. They weren't nude or anything like that, but it still bothered me enough to immediately leave the group, thinking that there may be something else going on there that I want no part of.

He was still up on the IM, so I started asking in-advertent questions about his group. Come to find out, Yahoo had cancelled over 10 of his groups...so folks, you can draw your own conclusions on this, but mine was that this guy was dirty.

One reply he made to one of my questions was...'they are just feet' ...well that may be true...BUT...there is a personal line I draw...not to mention the LEGAL lines...!!

I blocked him immediately after ending the conversation.

Just a 'Heads-Up' for all of you...!!

That e-mail sounds like total crap to me. I've received tons of similar ones saying I have illegal material on my PC (totally untrue) and risk going to prison if I don't buy their "cleaning" software. It's a pretty worn thin marketing ploy I think. In my case they got my e-mail address because it was harvested from an adult web-site and I was receiving SPAM from child porn web-sites. I wasn't in the least bit worried because I'd reported every single one of the sick pieces of shit to the Internet Watch Foundation.
