As this hasn't been widely reported I thought I'd mention it, the 4 times Grammy-winning composer Michael Kamen has died of a suspected heart attack at his home in London.

With a resume including movies such as the Lethal Weapon series, X-men, Die Hard and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, and collaborations with music groups as far apart as Pink Floyd and Metallica he was a rare talent and shall be sorely missed.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters, his father and three brothers

I never knew he created all these great movie scores.
You hear about John Williams from Star Wars and such, but
until I read about his death, I never realized all the movies he scored...and I loved his Metallica concert with the San Fran Orchestra.

Oh yeah...by the way he also wrote the music for one other "interesting" and pertickluarly interesting to us in the tickle world music score...

He wrote the music for The Adventures of Baron Munchausen!!! and the "Song" whatever that means...I found this info on IMDB.com.

I have also heard about this terrible tragedy and it is very refreshing to know that I am not the only one who knows about this brilliant musician. If you've ever seen Robin Hood, you can understand how much of a genius this man was. There are no words to describe how great that music is, and it is awful to know that we will not be blessed with his wonderful talent anymore.

cs - exactly, he was one of the few people I can think of that could turn out a score for a film and have it recognised as such, rather than as, for example, a Danny Elfman score for the movie (insert title here). I, like I suspect many others, first realised who he was when Metallica’s S&M came out and then started seeing his name seemingly everywhere I looked. One of the best surprises over the last few years was turning on Party at the Palace last year and thinking "Hang on, I know that guy..." and knowing it was going to be worth listening to despite the best efforts of the current crop of British 'stars'.

Kamen will truly be missed. His musical scores were always cutting-edge. A brilliant composer who knew what a film needed, he wasn't afraid to use modern rock in conjunction with traditional scoring tools for impact and effect. I loved the Lethal Weapon soundtracks, and if I'm not mistaken, I believe he did Die Hrd as well, although I'm not 100% sure on that.

Rest in Peace Micheal, and see if you can jazz up those trumpets and harps a bit while you're up there...
