Random Banter Thread

*bangs head on keyboard*

i spent all day backing up my files so i can format my hard drive to fix numerous problems, just to find out i absolutely cannot format my hard drive, it seems i'll have to pay a professional to do it.... damn it....
 
when i had windows 98, you could choose to format with the windows disk, but i have windows xp, so that's out of the question, i can't reboot with DOs and do it, since xp has no DOS, and last but not least, i can't create a format floppy disc since my floppy disc drive is busted.
 
Restart the machine and hold down delete. In te bios, select the CDROM as your "first boot" device. Then, restart the computer again with the Windows XP disk in it. In there when you are sorting out your partitions, you can format the drives. 🙂 .
 
Not really an expert. I just know how to put em together and fix em up tis all.

what do you think i did? only gave me the option to re-install or fix xp.

Hang on. You start up with the XP disk, then choose reinstall. It will take you to a screen asking you which partition you want to install windows to, and will enable you to format and repartiton your drive(s)

Hehe. Nah, its a simple mistake to make ^^ . I don't really like the mucking around you have to do in windows, so I tend to use Gentoo or Ubuntu...
 
Ok, yeah, I thought I knew a fair amount about computers, after having to custom build my own, but Kimiko here's flying circles around me.
Of course, if she starts flying squares around me, I'll really be impressed :tounge:
 
i guess i'll try that tommorow, just makes me nervous, my comps my pride and joy, and with my luck, i'll serious fudge it all up.

god forbid i screw up my hardware :tounge:
 
I remember once when I was fiddling and ajusted the screen resolution too high, so the monitor didnt support it. Being the idiot I was, I pressed enter when the screen went black, making it permanent. Had to switch the drive over to another machine and format it >.< .
