Has anyone else noticed just random, completely out of the blue, posts showing up on threads now that serve as an advertisment for something? It has been happening a lot in the clips section and I recently noticed it in other threads in the discussion sections. What is up with that? Are people actually creating memberships to a fetish site so that they can post about great sales at Old Navy??

Yes they are doing just that. The mods clear stuff like this up daily but they need you to click on the little red triangle at the upper right corner of the post when you see it and just type spam in the pop up box and report it so they can find it quickly and delete it....

Yep, and its been going on for years. The moderators can't possibly see everything posted here every day so they need our help.

I brought this subject up a couple of years ago in an attempt to justify profitability vs. effort.

I still maintain that even if the bots can get past the CAPTCHA image verification required at registration, the probability of a “hit” coming from this forum is minuscule.

The only reasonable explanation is that this forum is either part of a huge database of forums for sophisticated spambot systems where the success rate from any given target is not considered in future attempts, or there are an ever increasing number of spambots coming online, using the same outdated database for the first time.

Or ... there are just a lot of desperate individuals who sadly continue to exist on “Lotto” mentality.

I gave a spambot about 3.50 about a year ago, and now it won't leave me alone. 😡
