American's don't do much with pies outside of the standard fruit/berry pie. You won't find many meat pies. 😛
My personal favorite would probably be a cherry pie or a mixed berry pie (blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, etc). Something with a thick filling without being mushy and not too sweet (so no canned fillings). The crust of course being lightly sweetnened...light but not too delicate or flaky and NOT chewy.

For a meal type pie you only evey really get pot pies here, usually chicken or turkey. But I prefer home made to frozen.

Born and raised in the Greater Philadelphia area, I have a weakness for Tastykake individual pies. A thick, overly sweet filling in a thin pastry envelope. My favorites are lemon, coconut creme, and what they call the Tasty-Klair (kind of a Boston creme thing).

Tastykake recently came out with a low-carb version of their most popular snacks. They call them Not Very Tasty But Won't Kill You Quite So Quickly-Kakes.

the hollywood brother rumors about the hollywod brother growing up believieng that nobody bakes a cake or pie as tasty as a tastycake are true indeed. However the hollywood brother thinks that thanks to the rock and roll outfit known as Warrant, that the hollywood brother seems to love cherry pie. not only is it tasty but it is a great rock and roll song.

now as far as non fruit pies goes, well the hollywood brother loves chicken and meatp ies. The hollywood brother has not made any fish pies or taco pies yet but the life of the amazing hollywood brother is maybe a third over so there is still some time.
