RANT: The "F" Word

Sad... isn't it? There are just the threads, not how many times it used in them.


What is it with the use of that word on this forum? I've seen people using that word alot this week and it prompted me to say something.

To those who have, do, and will continue to use it:

Clearly no one hates you for your sexual tastes on this board, why do you need to hate on others. If you look around, most of the time when it's used, it's used against a male who is into */m. That doesn't necessarily make him gay and it certainly doesn't justify that word. Live and let live because otherwise this place is going to drive away its gay male members and Im sure there are plenty of females who would go with them in support.

Please, get comfortable with yourself and stop disrespecting your tickling brothers and sisters.

I also thought it would be the other F word. XD But I should've guessed it wasn't...As for the topic though, well in all honesty, that F word isn't used completely the same as it used to be. That is, it is becoming a much more common word used to refer to things in a negative way, or in other cases a way that shows another person being into a certain thing something hardcore-like. Granted, I can't exactly give any examples, but you may have seen them.

As for when it IS used for homosexual people though, I can agree since that's what it's directed at.

IMHO - ****** is the most vile. There is no nice connotation of that word. If I searched "gay" or "queer" i'd probably get alot of responses but I don't have the time to go through every post and see how it was used.

i agree it shouldnt be used as an attack at homosexuals or anyone else really, but if its lighthearted between friends then anything goes really, i call my friends some pretty obscene things, i expect it back every time of course my and crystal had an epic insult battle in the radio chatroom once, loved it!

Word. While I don't use that word, I realize it's about context... if you look on the boards here... the context is clear.

I say lots of mean shit to my friends too when we're all fucking around but i was refering to it's use here on the forums.

Yeah, use of the word with malicious intent (on and off the forums) is unbelievably unkind, not to mention ignorant and stupid.

Having said that, I see no reason why it (or other less hate filled euphamisms) can't be used when you're having a laugh with your mates. I routinely call my straight friends/certain situations "gay".

By the way, I thought it was about the other "F" word too...

I agree, I say all sorts of shit with my friends that not PC and we have a good laugh. Im referring to it's use here on the forums tho.

Actually, the original meaning is what spawned the connotation. According to Christian tradition, homosexuals and sodomites were to be cast into the fires of hell, much in the same way that a ****** of wood is cast into a fire.

I used to work with a gay man whose name is unimportant, but he would say that he was a "fag" he told me himself, "oh yeah, I'm the biggest fag in SLO County, ask any homo!" He told me that he doesn't mind being called a fag or a homo or gay, what he didn't like was being called QUEER, because queer's meaning is odd, weird, or unusual, but a ******, well, that means bundle of sticks which he said, "well i am a gay, there no hiding how a bundle of sticks can relate to a gay man." What really pissed him off was the people who chant, "we're here, we're queer, get used to it" and he would say, "those people are fags, in the most derogatory sense of the term."

In my lexicon:

"Gay" is an individual who is a homosexual.

"******" or "Fag" is a presumed straight man who exhibits extraordinarily effeminate tendencies, or is unreasonably enamored of a certain hobby or sports team: e.g, Theater Fag, D&D Fag, or RaiderFag.

"Queer" is used to describe the front man of an 80's pop-rock band who left hellacious guitarist like Neal Schon behind to embark on a solo career and make stupid videos about chicks named "Sherrie" ( OKAY! KIDDING! KIDDING! Sorry, couldn't resist.)

"Latent Homosexual" or "Asshole" describes people who throw those terms about in a hurtful manner.
