I think if I were to rate avatars I would do it based on how much effort was put into them.

Obviously theres a difference between something you created yourself and something you just got off of the internet. Like drawing or animating your avatars, versus simply cropping and resizing them. How much attention to detail and how much time is also something to consider.

I tend to see avatars as just one part of the presentation and package. When I go with a theme I try and have everything else match it.

Though that may just be me, since I'm used to animating my avatars and getting the most I can out of them with whatever file size limit I have to work with.

What avatar do I have these days? Ah yes...I got it from a really beautiful piece of fanart I found. I dont expect anyone else to like it...I like it.
And anyway...didnt you say rate OTHERS avatars?
Without throwing numbers around I'd say....Timewarps is kinda funny and Vladdie's is pretty cute. ^^

I keep forgetting and putting off creating a sig to go with it to link to my forum like I used to do. Its not that I'm lazy. I just realize I'd probably put too much effort into it and ultimately not be satisfied, or satisfied, but only for a time.

I don't care about people's avatar too much, as long as they aren't unsightly or offensive.
Some are funny; I remember saving a few.

So, whose avatar am I rating? Mine. I like it. I wouldn't be using it, else.

If ness was still using your very first avatar of the girlie pic, I would have rated that 5/5. It somehow just ties in with your cute, sharp, lively and cheery personality that's impossible not to love.

Kalamos's avatar also gets my 5/5. It is instantly recognisable and projects this image of him (to me at least) as a grand medieval mage archer wearing that helmet in your avatar, and this mage archer would be 10 feet tall, ready to shoot arrows at all whiney imbeciles where ever they lurk.
