I wanted to use this thread to have a rant about how utterly disappointing and infuriating Regal Cinemas here in Lancaster, PA are. I have lived in this area for five and one half years, and, as many of you know, I attend movies at that theater often, as I love to go to the movies, and the cinema is right down the street from my apartment, literally.
This year, it seems to me that our theater has been cheating us out of movies which other parts of the country have gotten. Our theater did not show "Delovely", and does not have on its schedule "Beyond the Sea" or "Kinsey Report". In an area the size of this, it seems disgraceful to me that the movie going public should be deprived of these films. Additionally, I have posted on here in the past year what it took to get F-911 and Closer to come to our theater. One has to wonder why Regal does not show major movies at this theater. I know there is a "distribution round" or such of what movies to show at different theaters, but I also know that my friends in New York have seen all these movies. Instead of these first rate movies that arent being shown here, Regal chooses to take up its cinemas with things such a "Dude, Where's My Car?". I have posted more than one complaint on Regal's website, and it just seems like movie after movie isnt shown here!
I have to wonder what the hell is going through Regal executives minds when they make their choice of what films to release! Dont they think that movie patrons want to see these top rate films which they are not showing? I wont lie when I say that I have seen my share of fine films during my time in Lancaster, including some excellent ones over this Christmas season. I just wonder why Regal has this policy of failing to release some of the top movies here!?
Okay, end of rant! GRRRR! As someone who spends hundreds of dollars in the movies every year, I just feel cheated as a patron to have to miss these top movies, all because I live in an area with a policy such as Regal's! 😡

Well living in Delaware and having visited Lancaster often and gone to that Regal theater I can tell you that it is probably THAT Regal you have a problem with.
THAT Regal is probably trying to play more to the tourist visitor than too someone like yourself who wants to see "Independent" movies or less than "blockbuster" movies.
I could be wrong but that is usually the case in tourist theaters.

Just my 2 cents...

You would be better off talking the management at THAT Regal rather then the Corporate Regal.

You make a good point, and I have contacted both management at the cinema itself, as well as corporate. The reply I got from the people who work at this theater itself is that they just dont get certain movies, which is a lame excuse. When I contacted Regal HQ through their website, I receieved an email stating that they try to offer the widest variety possible, and will take my comments into consideration. I highly doubt it will have an effect on the type of movies released, but felt I had to aware them of the situation anyway.

I can realte to your fustration. I lived in a very small town in Maine, putting our theater at the very end of the distrabution list. The theater was located across the street of a video store. More times than I care to count the video store would be advertising the same video for rent as the theater was showing. Coupled with the fact that it only could show two movies at one time and those movies stayed for weeks, some times a month.
