Hey everybody, I got something on my mind that i haven't voiced to anyone in the real world yet. Thought I'd run it by my fellow lees and lers first.

I remember Quentin Tarantino once saying that he loved Gus Van Sant's Psycho (1998) and said it was far better than the original. Since that cat has a foot fetish, i thought i'd see how he likes it when the shoe is on the other foot. Or rather off the foot, LOL!

So yeah, I am writing my own version of Reservoir Dogs, but am staying true to the original theme of the movie. I only have a few changes that i will admit to openly.

Actually seeing the robbery take place, which includes Blonde's trigger happy rampage.

Not cutting back to the past and present, that's QT's style, and I don't want to sault his game. Like the script he wrote for True Romance (1993), the original script was written so that it went from the past to the present. But Tony Scott, the director, decided he didn't want to shoot it that way.

A female cop, instead of Marvin Nash. A busty blonde named Stacey Nash. She's gotta be blonde because her torturer is going to be Mr. Blonde LOL!

No slasing off ears or attempted pyres. That may've been fine for Marvin, but not Stacy. The fact that i made Nash a woman, is because I want Blonde to try and rape her. He rips her police uniform off and licks her body first, then he goes out to get rubbers in his car. I even want Blonde to endulge himself in his foot fetish, maybe suck her toes and tickle her feet some (an omage to Tarantino, if you will).

Losing Mr. Brown, i figure five dogs are plenty, and since all Mr. Brown (played by Tarantino) did was wait in the car, I figure he can wait on the sideline as well. I might use him, i don't know yet, I'm still working on the script and maping out a plot summary.

The ending was great, but since it's a different movie, i want to do a different ending. Just like Zombie's Halloween. I want Mr. Orange to redeem himself, but have his life spared for his redemption. Also, i don't want him to kill the woman whose car him and Mr. White steal, I want Mr. White to do that.

There's a few new things, but a lot of the old material and some similar dialogue. I am also going to tone down the work "fuck" as well (as an omage to my mom because she did give birth to me LOL!)

If anyone has any suggestions, or comments, or dos and don'ts that i should stay away from. I don't want to ruin the Reservoir Dogs legacy, i just want to tell the story from a different angle. I still want it set in the late 80s, like Quentin did, but unfortunately i don't have much 80s experience, so if anybody has an 80s advice, lay it on me.

These are the actors i have envisioned in the roles, just to put a face to the names. I know it's stupid, but it's what i would do if i could cast anyone I wanted. If you think anyone else is better, please inform me.

Mr. White Brad Pitt
Mr. Orange Aaron Stanford
Mr. Blonde Timothy Olyaphant
Nice Guy Eddie Michael Rapaport
Mr. Pink Billy Bob Thornton
Joe Cabot Harvey Keitel
Holdaway Samuel L. Jackson
Stacey Nash Zoe Bell
Mr. Blue Randy Quaid
Mr. Brown Eli Roth

Oh and did I mention I would still be doing K-Billy's Sounds of the 70s Weekend as well!

I admire your passion man. I really do and I appreciate it. However as someone who is a huge movie-goer and fan of the cinema, I honestly can't see how any living being could improve on Reservoir Dogs. It remains one of my all-time favourite movies and one of the truest versions of film noire in recent memory.

While your new scenes and changes sound interesting and I appreciate the motivation behind your project, I can honestly say I would have no interest in seeing a remake of Reservoir Dogs or any other film directed by Quentin Tarantino.

Just my humble opinion.

I hear what you're saying Snail, and I respect your humble opinon with all my heart. I love QT, he's literally a genius, but I saw so much more potential with that movie.

Look at Psycho, man, that was a Hitchcock classic and Oscar winner Gus Van Sant, fucked it all up. Vince Vaughn as Norman Bates, that's like having Arnold play Hannibal Lector. That movie was a joke, dude, and Quentin still loved it and raved about it.

I'm not trying to step on the man's toes, but if he's gonna love a remake that's word for word and scene by scene, then he shouldn't have any complaints about someone remaking one of his movies. No offense to QT, but he's no Hitchcock. Sir Alfred knew how to make a film noir, and he knew how to direct. So does Quint, but he needs to be a taught a lesson. The guy basically said FUck Hitchcock, adn that's disrespectful.

I will always love Quint, and his work. But I'm taking a different angle here, and I really think that he'll enjoy it himself. With good actors, a somewhat different yet similar story is not going to be offensive. I even want to call it a different title and say based on Quentin Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs. There might be some contraversey if QT decides to not sell his rights of RD to me. It'd be like Manhunter and Red Dragon

I would have to agree with this post. Why not make your own movie?
Why does it have to be a remake?
Sounds like you have a lot of passion, so make it your own.

Aloha, John

Well, that's a moot point. I did say I was changing the title, so we'll see. I have no choice, but it's technically gonna be a remake of the 92 classic. And there needs to be a female character. C'mon now, True Romance had a cool chick named Alabama. Even Death Proof, an entire cast of hot ladies, had one male role which was Stuntman Mike. I'm paying an omage to Tarantino, especially with a specific word that he used during the commentary. Listen to the commentary at the end, when Orange reveals to White that he's a cop and you'll know what I'm talking about. I gotta do, what I gotta do, and that is tell this story my way.

Like Cabot says, "It's My Way Or The Highway"

wasn`t the Psycho remake done exactly frame by frame and line by line....with new people?

don`t bother

Yes, it was. Gus Van Sant, wins an Oscar and thinks that he's above Hollywood and can easily take a classic and modernize it. Complete B.S., and people give Rob Zombie crap for remaking Halloween, that dude redefined the term remake and made that movie his own.

Which is what I'm doing with Reservoir Dogs, I'm not doing it word for word and scene for scene like the classic orginal. I've been praised by my movie geek friends who love my script and my ideas.

Don't bother, eh? Well thanks for your input, man, but it just ain't gonna happen. To quote Tarantino, I could care less what people think of my movie, because all I want to do is tell a story.
