Renaissance Fairs

Hello all,

What I want to know is, is it like a regular thing for a renaissance fair to have stocks? I’ve seen all the renfaire tickle vids I’m sure everyone has. Never been to one, not really my cup of tea. However my wife expressed interest in attending the state renaissance fair later this year and I accepted under the condition that she’d have to give it a shot if they had them (she accepted obviously she’s a good sport about the whole thing). Just trying to get a read on how good my chances are for those who have attended.

My state has one but they don’t have any stocks :/

In my neck of woods, there's a mock one for photos but nothing "real" to truly immobilize someone.

No. All of the videos people lose their minds over came/come from two or three faires in Europe. The vast, vast majority of faires don't even have stocks, and if they do as others mentioned they're not for actually holding people, they're photo ops at best.

Personally, as someone who's attended more than a few faires across the US over the years I've never seen them. Your chances are basically zero, so don't bother.

Back in the 80's the Michigan Ren Faire had them but they got rid of them at least three decades ago.

I have witnessed renfaire tickling exactly once in real life. Cannot tell you where and when or give any details.
