In the wake of an embarrassing 45-7 loss to the Green Bay Packers, the Dallas Cowboys have fired head coach Wade Phillips, NFL Network's Michael Lombardi reports.

This is the first time the Cowboys have fired a head coach in the middle of the season, something owner Jerry Jones was hesitant to do despite the team's early struggles.

Let me quote something I had posted in another thread just a few minutes ago:

Dallas needs changes NOW. Not after the season, they need to scrape what ever whatever pride they have left and play! While I normally take joy in seeing the Cowboys lose (and New England!) last night as a football fan, that game made my stomach turn. I was disgusted. I felt embarrassed for the League and all of Cowboy Nation.

Wade Phillips looked uninterested and out of place. He looked like a basketball coach trying to coach hockey. He had the "far off" stare of someone who was just waiting for the lights to get turned out.

Hopefully Jerry Jones does that.

That performance last night, simply the worst performance I have ever seen from a PROFESSIONAL TEAM in my 32 years of watching football (yeah since I was 6 I can remember watching games), since 1978, I have NEVER seen a team give up and not even try and just utterly crap all over the sport they play.

I am glad for the sake of Cowboy Nation and the NFL that Jerry looks like he made the move.

The sad thing is the fans can't fire a owner. Maybe now he'll hire someone that has a spine. Think about it if he wasn't so hard to work for Jimmy Johnson may still be there.

I think back to the post I made a few weeks back too..

"How Stupid are the Dallas Cowboys?".. when I too, mentioned Phillips should be looking at the want ads.

and now this.. I can only add once again..

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!

This is priceless.

Practice those endzone celebrations Cowboys.. HAHAHAHAHAHAA!

Stupidity, arrogance.. and now laziness.

Maybe they will now learn the "unemployment dance".

Problem is, anytime the Cowboys have a coach not afraid to stand up to Jerry Jones, they either quit or get fired. Parcells and Johnson spring to mind. I laughed last night when the announcers were saying Cowher or Gruden could be candidates for the job. Sorry, but I don't see either of them knuckling under to Jones.

problem is thats simply not true...

Parcells had full control

Jimmy Johnson had a history dating back to college as never staying more than five years. He said talked about this in many interviews. He put so much time in that he knew he wouldnt be anyplace long term. Jimmy himself has said that one more year tops is all he would have stayed with Cowboys no matter the situation.

Thers a huge chance of the NFL not playing next year or an abbreviated season a possibility. Jones doesnt want to pay what it would take to get a bigname here and not be playing. Garrett made head coach type money as OC and Phillips is also on the books for next year

Jerry needs to fir the GM after all he is the one that makes the picks and he picks without any idea of locker room haromy. I heard they needed the new bigger stadium so his ego will make it thought the doors.

The Cowboys are my least favorite team in all of sports. They should finish at least 3-13.

And this week they have the Giants. Should be another good "ass-whooping"

HOW BOUT DEM COWBOYS!!!! :laughhard:

It's almost gotten to the point that the Cowboys have become so pathetic this season that it's not as much fun to pile on and bust on them.

:hmm:

Nahhhhhhhh. HOW BOUT DEM COWBOYS!!!! :laughhard:

It's about time. I thought he was gone two years ago when they lost to...you guessed it...the Giants. They won't win with Romo. He can't handle the big game.

Does anybody remember....

Maurice Lucas? I was reading Sports Illustrated yesterday and I saw an article that e passed away from bladder cancer. He was one of the most dominant rebounders and feared enforcers during the 70's.

When I think of the Dallas Cowboys, I think of Hugh Hefner's bedroom. They both have a lot of talent going to waste. :bwahaha:
