A little background: Dan O'Neill is one of the original 1960's underground cartoonists. He's a contemporary of R. Crumb, Spain Rodriguez, Rick Griffith and others who pretty much invented the graphic novel as we now know it.
This is an excerpt from a now out-of-print book from 1969 by Dan O'Neill called "Hear The Sound of My Feet Walking". I found it at a flea market about 15 years ago, and I was quite frankly blown away when I got to this chapter. Sounds to me like Mr. O'Neill was doing more than simply riffing on a fairly common subject!
Anyway, the author is currently offering free PDF downloads of this book on his web site (http://www.danoneillcomics.com/books/). This particular chapter doesn't seem to be on his site yet, so if I can do so without offending the copyright deities, I would like to share this rather interesting (and funny!) graphic meditation on tickling from the early Lysergic period.
(There are 8 panels total. The remaining three are below).
