Lawrence Peter "Yogi" Berra died yesterday, at the age of 90.
He was clearly not merely a Hall-of-Fame catcher, but one of the best catchers in the history of Major League Baseball. I say that as a fan who rooted against his Yankees, as a Dodger fan, for his entire career.
Among his many accomplishments were winning the AL Most Valuable Player award three times, being named to the All-Star team 15 times, and winning a World Series ring ten times (including over the Dodgers in 1947, 1949, 1952, 1953, and 1956).
Rest In Peace, Mr. Berra.
