Ridiculous reasons for not posting...

My apologies I can’t pay you a cent for your very important post and time, but maybe with a little persuasion you can shed the light even if it’s just an alibi… 😱

Why are you NOT posting?

Maybe a multiple choice can make it easier:

I don’t post because:

a. My keyboard is for official use only
b. I am a damn busy CEO, lurking is faster
c. My pride is higher than my height
d. I’m so emo, I can't handle it
e. I have post-o-phobia
f. I’m only interested looking at pretty sig pics
g. The boss is just around
h. TMF will peel me alive
i. I’m so pissed off at the crowd
j. I don’t want to increase my post-ratio
k. I only buy clips, posting is not my thing
l. My grammar goes nowhere
m. Someone sucks

Lurkers don't post because they don't have to.

When you register with this forum, there is no obligation that you have to post. There is no expectation to post whatsoever.

Lurkers choose to lurk rather than post for their own reasons, and it's not anyone's place to question that.

If you want to encourage people to post more, try post something interesting. Offer a thread that gives others the opportunity to express themselves. Beginning a thread with a broad enough topic can offer good conversation if it is interesting enough.

I believe that people will post if they feel welcomed and accepted within the community. I guess it's easy to place initiative on the lurker, but for years I didn't say a word and in the last six months I've opened up more.

People like Adam and Bugman have an inviting vibe about them. Adam's posts always offer something interesting to think about and discuss. And it's that inviting vibe that got me posting.

This is my one opportunity (at 1am Australian time mind you) to offer as much as possible to a single thread before I go to sleep and all you Americans wake up and post your bloody asses off.

By the time I wake up, all current and new threads are 2 pages in, the day is kicking on with you guys, and I have to get a start on mine...so the only conversation I have left to offer then is often just the lingering convo before everyone moves on to the new topic.

Posting is a relatively benign addiction, it doesn't destroy your health or cost much. (In fact, it saves money since the computer uses less electricity than the TV that I used to watch more.) 😀
