Rocky VI???????????????????????

Okay, I just read a Reuters report that Rocky VI - "Rocky Balboa" will be released sometime between Christmas 2006 and February 2007.

The 60 (yes, 60) year old Sylvester Stallone will make a final appearance as the 2-time heavy weight champion of the world as he accepts a challenge to fight a 20-something current champ.

The challenge comes about as a result of a computer simulation which compares Rocky Balboa against the other fighter. According to the computer, if Rocky were to fight the current champ, Rocky would win. This creates a stir, and the next thing you know, the geriatric gunner is facing a final battle in the ring.

i think its a mistake to try to bring the franchise back, not that sly cant pull it off, he's still built at 60, but a computer simulation scenario? sounds pretty weak to me, i dont see this being any kind of major money maker. hollywood is really running out of ideas with all these sequels, remakes, and "re-imaginings" as they now call them. all i can say is "ADRIIEEEN! ADRIIEEEN"

seniors division

Perhaps they could start up a seniors league in boxing for the over 50 set. Many fighters like to fight well beyond their prime, anyway. Then the premise of the movie wouldn't sound so outlandish. Stallone at 60 could be on top of the senior's heavyweight division, dominating men ten years his junior (still, a remarkable feat).

I could be wrong, but I seem to recall the Rocky character not being the sharpest knife in the drawer in the first movie. It's difficult to imagine, after all these fights/movies, where his brain would be at. I think that's your story right there- it writes itself (cum Requiem for a Heavyweight)!

I'm so tired of unlikely action stars these days. My puppy could beat the crap out of Jessica Alba and Lucy Liu with one paw tied behind his back. Sylvester Stallone should just grow old gracefully. He's not a total idiot~if he needed the $, he could find a way to go with a much more likely premise for a movie. Sorry, just my lousy two cents.

I will watch 'Casablanca", and "to have or have not" again at home. H. Bogart is much better than Stallone.

It looks to be a good but sad movie, accordin to the review, it is similar to the first movie where rocky is alone and poor again and needs to fight. Also in the movie, he's fighting antonio tarver as Mason "the line" dixon

I agree, its just another example of Hollywood regurgitating(sp?) old ideas to make money. But who are you calling Cashcow??

I agree, you can milk osmething too much, but since Rocky V was pretty lousy ("Rocky" never even sets foot in the ring in that one!), I say give Stallone a chance to end it once and for all on a better note.

Please bear in mind, the rocky franchise wasnt supposed to be about boxing. Rocky I is pretty much a love story first and boxing second, infact, u only see boxing in the very beginning and end of the movie. It wasnt till it became an oscar winner and money winner that they threw away regular plot and made it all about boxing. From what reports have said, this movie will mimic 1, apparently adrian is killed off somewhere in the past and rocky is alone livin poor tryin to make ends meet.

I think its an issue of stallone wanting to do this, he wrote and directed the movie and was throwin the script to everyone for the past 5 years

That's a pretty @#$%ed up computer simulator if it says a 60 yr old boxer can beat up a 20 something world champ. Maybe at the end of the movie they all realize "oohhh, the computer meant that a YOUNG Rocky Balboa could beat this kid!!" And they all have a big laugh. Roll credits.

The problem all started when he thought he was a actual fighter when he was doing the the show 'The Contender'...........sad really.

On another note that movie cost the world title from Antonio Tarver; he went into the Hopkins fight under prepared and it showed.

I will still go see it; for a laugh at least.

I've never been a fan of the Rocky movies myself. Maybe he could fight Hulk Hogan again 😛

I'm going to pass on it. There hasn't been a good Rocky since Rocky 3. Rocky 4 wasnt that great, and five was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Rocky beats up his protege in a street fight, oh wow, BFD. That movie was made 16 years ago, they should have let it be. All this movie represents is work for Sly Stallone, and an attempt to make money for the studio. Rocky is old and tired already, but, I guess Hollywood has the choice to approve money for whatever movies they decide to make. I'll be surprised if this movie is any good.

I can see it now....

Rocky enters the ring. He stares down his much younger opponent. He's ready for whatever this young punk can dish out, because he's seen it all in his 60 years. Before he knows it, the bell rings. The fight is on. His opponent comes swinging at him with a flurry of blows. This man is faster than Rocky was expecting, but he still manages to block his blows. A minute passes, and they've each exchanged a few lucky hits, but nothing has fazed either of the fighters yet. Rocky's confidence is renewed as he sees his age has not diminished his skill as much as he suspected. In a flash of insight, Rocky sees his opponent lower his guard. He takes this opportunity to attempt a crushing hook to his enemy's face, and....




....the other guy punches Rocky in the stomach and he pees himself.

Alas, this could be a great comedy, but I don't think that's the angle they're going for.
