Roller Coasters'?

That's where mine ends, actually. 😉

Hmm. That's odd. So's mine.

Well, I maybe COULD squeeze it in for late 2011...

And as far as apparel goes, we could do it around Halloween! You can wear what you want on that one day of the year. I imagine that water's cold up there around then, though. :yowza:

Never been on a roller coaster when I could go on one; I was paranoid in the extreme! I always thought something would go wrong with the machine when I went on it, and especially for those smaller wooden roller coasters.
One time, my overly-highly-greatly-irrational paranoia of roller coasters paid off. At some park in California, my cousins wanted to go on a roller coaster that had a crazy long ride (I think it might have been Space Mountain :huh), and we left because the line was so long. Then, we were told that a coaster fell off the track and I think 4 people ended up getting seriously injured/dying, or something. Haha, paranoia being reaffirmed! :ggrin: ;P

And now, that I feel more confident, all-in-all, I can't even go on one, really. All that bashing around, my brain wouldn't be able to sustain the assault. 🙁 Part of me's sad, but part of me's not; my paranoia didn't completely go away. 😉

Rollercoasters are both better AND worse than whatever you imagine, sadistictcklr. I'm not big on speed and heights, which is pretty much the notion that rollercoasters are built on. But, it's such a rush, it's one of those things that, when you finally get around to it, you'll be like, "WOW! Why did I wait so long to try that!". :super_hap

Oh, and whatever you do, don't watch Final Destination 3 before you join us on the ride, m'kay? :38:

Oh, I already have; don't worry.
And, honestly, I don't know if I'll ever end up being buckled into one, not even being allowed to go on a trampoline until a few months still. (giving an idea of the severity of my injury)

Preferably the gathering would be a no-pressure-whatsoever sort of event. Some days I ain't up for thrill rides. I could spend a day just bobbing along on an innertube or sliding down waterslides. No prob.

*sigh* So what's a monster supposed to do at the park? I usually go ride the bench in front of the chicken sandwich stand.

LOL. OK Aunt Selma! Remember when she took Bart & Lisa to Duff Gardens. "Oh look....a bench"

We must converge there as a community en masse someday! :grouphug:

What's everybodies calendars looking like for 2012?

It is a pretty great park. They got almost everything. Wood coasters, steelcoasters, a shit load of just different fair like rides, aside from the waterpark they got a bunch of water rides. The water park I believe has just a few slides, but its got a ginormus wave pool. Also as for the haloween idea I give the a BIG thumbs up. during october they have what they call frightfest. It is F'n awesome! every pond they have the water is dyed red and there is a crap ton of employees in huge elaborate costumes. Sometimes they fuck with people and will follow them around. sometimes they will jump out and scare ya. *note* dont go if you have a heart condition.

That picture is without a doubt more frightening than anything they have at frightfest

we should really consider having a group get together there next summer, or if funds are low the following summer. I think it would be perfect...low stress or tension enviroment, a great time, plus I believe they still sell a thing called a "twicket" for like $10 and gets you into the park the next day instead of paying full price. Also there are amazing hotels near by if you have the money and if not there are cheap motels close by aswell. I think it would make for a great weekend getaway. Also around here Coke cans are worth $10-25 dollars off admission to six flags. you gotta have the cans from around here cuz they have the ad. on em. I'd be more than willing to gather up enough empty cans for every person that came

Ya Kinda Ka looks like a blast. I believe it does 0 to 125mph in 3sec. Also i think the hydaulic moter thet powes the slingshot type device that launches the train generates 50,000 HP.

Not so much coasters, but rather "thrill rides". Both in Vegas.

There used to be a coaster strapped to the side of a building 909 feet in the air. It got old and rather than repair, they replaced it. The new one is the X-Scream. Here's a video... google it for details.

Another is the Stratosphere Insanity Ride. 900+ feet off the ground.

So who is down for 6 flags next summer or the summer after?

Since I was talking about frightfest I think the ultimate Halloween song is " The Monster Mash".

Hate loop coasters, I always have a fear that I would be stuck mid loop and then splat

I think the worst that would happen, would be stuck and be pissed/ terrified for awhile. However there is a chance of "splat"

yeah but you could also fall out, have blood rush to your brain and have a really bad headache and possibly death. There are so many horror stories out there of the coasters malfunctioning and people being stuck upside down for to long and that caused a few to die.I would absolutely panic if I was stuck upside down because I'd be terrified of falling out and hitting the ground or the steel track!!!

Which is why if I am on a coaster, I go for any that don't loop. Or at the very least just curves slightly

Yea almost every roller coaster malfunction is with the lift hill. The train get's stuck for awhile. It rarely ever happens where a train will get stuck mid loop.

We just did a coaster weekend over the 4th of July in Ohio - we went to King's Island and Cedar Point. It was totally AWESOME! And The Beast beats every wooden coaster hands down. I did enjoy the variety at Cedar Point - and the Dragster was one of the best I've ever ridden.

I certainly think so. Fast enough and bad enough. Front car, after dark with the lights on... going into the tunnels. Nothing beats it. And the ride takes over 4 minutes...so it's hardly one of those little "oh my god is it over already?" kind of rides 🙂
