Dudes... The English patch for Monster Girl Quest Paradox part one was finished a few days ago, and I've been playing it for a while. It's a great game, but HOOO LEEE SHITT the ASSETS.

This game is the fucking El Dorado of RPGMaker assets. Animations, tilesets, sprites, sprite animations. Not to mention the mechanics that could be learned just by studying the game files (because most of it is english translated as well)

To anyone that dreams of making an RPGMaker game of their own, I could not more strongly recommend taking this game apart and looking at how it works. Since all of the stuff here is non profit and non commercial, I'd also suggest making use of the JACKPOT of assets this game has packed in.

I've been playing this game for almost 8 hours total now, and I think I've only seen THREE character graphics that I recognize as belonging to RPGMaker. The other dozens of character graphics are 100% original work.

Unfortunately, most of the custom scripts this game uses are like.. Half translated. But, i'm sure someone familiar with coding would be able to pick up more than a few things from what IS translated.

Put it to you this way, this game has at LEAST 200 characters that you can add to your party, and EACH ONE has its own UNIQUE character sprite, like the one that walks. That is insane. IN SANE.

Started playing it yesterday, reminds me a lot of the old Dragon Quest Monsters. And yep, many many sprites I haven't seen before.

Since you seem to be further into the game - if you enter Illiasburg the guy at the entrance tells you to find Amari. I think I've talked with every person and looked into every pot, do you remember where you can find her the first time (or who gives you the next hint so the quest continues)?

I think it goes: Inkeeper tells you to go to the item store, then item store tells you to go to blacksmith, then a dude in a back alleyway, he tells you she went back to the church. Go back to illiasville and the priest dude (job change guy) tells you she never got to the church. Go back to back alley guy and I think he tells you she got abducted or something. I believe that procs a quest where you gotta go to a cave to the northwest to fight the 4 loli bandits from the original to rescue amari. Then she's outside the inn after the quest.

Could you provide a link to this game? I can't seem to find it.

I got mine off Kickass. The patch came from here https://mega.nz/#!GAwmwQoS!0QLtFZMtCf3UHzwvu37O8BPMVXZ77-nQBOBD7-2gW_E

Also worth noting: Get the PART ONE version of the game. I dunno if the patch is compatible for part 2 yet (which was released in japanese a few days ago).

The part 2 patch probably won't be done for at least a year, if the last patch is anything to go on. Also this quote from dargoth:
"I’ve learned way more than I’ll ever need to know about file encodings, line endings, byte order marks, recursive merge strategies, and all the ways things can fuck up when attempting to merge over a half million lines of text."

Emphasis on the "Half a million lines of text." This is probably gonna take an IMPRESSIVE chunk of time to translate.

I've got a question: How would one get access to the, indeed, awesome sprites this game has to offer?
I do own the game and the RPG Maker VX Ace. In the game's folder however, only the sprite assets native to the program can be found.
From what I can tell, all the pictures and a handful of the battlers are there, but not a single custom sprite.

You might be in the RTP folder then. Go to the folder where the game's .exe is located, then go to Graphics\Characters. The sprites should all be in there. If they're not, you might need to decrypt the game's encrypted file.

I can't be bothered to find a download link, so I'm just gonna upload my copy.
Of the decrypter I mean. Uploading a decrypted copy of the game would be illegal in more ways than one.

Yes, that was were I was looking for them.
The game's edit file was indeed encrypted and the program you generously shared does solve that in creating an unencrypted version.
However, upon starting that file, it just says "Failed to load actor data" and shuts down. I assume that's because, well, the sprites are not in the game's Graphics/Characters folder, which is my initial problem. Honestly I don't know why the game is working (and showing the correct sprites) without the sprites being in the correct folder, but it is.
Perhaps it is because I bought the game from a different platform than the one you suggested.
Oh well, thank you very much for the help anyway. ^-^

That sounds more like you decrypted the files but didn't copy them into the game folder. The decrypted files get created in the decrypter folder and you have to copy them manually.

That was my first instinct when the error occured as well so I already tried that, but the exact same error message was shown again. Thank you for the help anyway.

The game is almost $27. Are you sure it's non-commercial?

I think he meant the games being released here, on this forum. ^-^

I did. The games here are non-profit fan made little goodies. That's why you could put Darth Vader, Frodo Baggins, Mario, Sonic, Hermoine Granger, Zelda, the Wii Fit lady, Supergirl, FemShep, and Black Widow in a game and not get your balls sued off by every corporation on the planet.

Also yeah, you gotta do the extract game data in the program, then click the generate project file doohicky. Then merge the folders and put the project file in the game's root folder (where the game .exe is) Then run the project file with RPGmaker.

Ha! It worked! ^.^
I assume it didn't work until now, because I did not merge the folders together. Thanks a ton! ;D
