I mentioned this in the chatroom, so I figured I'd post about it here too. I know not all of us are foot lovers, but here was the scenario.

There is a hot girl named Christi, who looks like Mandy Moore, who works at the haircutting salon that my mom and I get our hair cut at. When my mom goes for her weekly hair style appointment, I have to help her into the salon, due to the fact that the place has a staircase, and my mom cant negotiate that well at her age.

Anyhow, the last two times I accompanied my mom into the salon, I noticed that Christi was wearing open toe shoes, no socks, in sub 30 degree weather, with wind chills in the teens. Had it been in the 50s, or even 40s, I would not have thought this so unusual, but, for 30 degree weather or below, with teens windchills, I was like "Hmm, Christi must really not be sensitive to cold".

This question is probably more to those forum members who are into feet than the non foot lovers, and also for the girls too. Do any of you see girls parading around in sandals with no socks in twenty or thirty degree weather? Also, for the girls, do any of you go around with sandals, no socks or stockings, in that cold a weather, outside, I mean? Any feedback or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sometimes, if I'm in a rush and don't wanna mess with my boots, I'll slip on whatever's convenient. Usually it's sneakers, but sometimes I'll throw on some sandals. If I know I'll be spending time inside, and the only taste of the cold will be running from the car to the door and back when I go home, then I'll often ignore the cold and just wear whatever I want.

I've know a couple of others girls who'd wear sandals in the winter, too. They usually do it out of habit or for comfort, and oddly, neither of them had desensitized feet. I'd know. I made sure. 😉

I think it mostly boils down to whether you're spending more time indoors or out. Outside? Wear boots with thick socks! Inside? Wear something comfortable to stand around in or whatever looks good. n_n

If I'm at home, I'm usually barefoot. When I want something from my car,
I'll often just run outside barefoot, cold, wet, ice, snow...

I'll tell you that I wouldn't go barefoot in a hair salon, though (and I
pretty much consider flip-flops bare) because the potential to get hair
under the skin is very high, and that can cause a lot of problems.

around here in Texas, it isn't uncommon. men and women wearing sandals or flip-flops in low temps. sure, it doesn't get as cold here as the north, but it can still get pretty nippy, and the high winds we've been getting lately makes it even more so. and still, i'll see a gaggle of college girls wandering about, practically barefoot, and not showing any adverse reactions. i even chatted with a girl at one of the coffee shops i once frequented who almost always wore slides or flip-flops. i had asker her about it once, since it was 40 outside and the wind was a speedy 30 m.p.h. she had said even in the worst weather, she hates shoes, and the cold felt good to her.

then again, some people are just weird.

If I had to go somewhere In that type of temperature, and also had to have nice shoes, I would wear my shit kickers until I got where I needed to be, then change. At home, 9/10 times I am barefoot, in weather like we get here?, You'd get beat up just out of the principle of how dumb that would be to do. :smilestar

This girl in the hair salon may have choosen to wear sandals at her place of work for comfort and may very well wear proper shoes to and from work. But I too see young girls wearing shoes with no socks or sandals in the dead of winter with little jackets on and wonder about their sanity. But its not just shoes I see college aged kids all the time who seem to be WAY underdressed for the winter weather.

one of the funniest things I ever saw was a girl wearing flip-flops, without socks, but with leg warmers! I saw that and was like "You've got to be kidding me!" Seriously, what has become the problem with wearing socks these days?
