SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE - Favorite Personalities & Episodes

"I have to agree with Natural Tickler - Eddie Murphy's James Brown and Joe Piscopo's Sinatra both had me in stiches.

Joe Piscopo actually released a 45 soon after that sketch. It was a Rock And Roll Medley which had him singing snippets of the following in Sinatra's voice - Joan Jett's I Love Rock And Roll, Foreigner's Cold As Ice, The Rolling Stones Under My Thumb & Bruce Springsteen's Born To Run. It was hilarious.

Honorable mention for Eddie Murphy's - Gumby, Dan Ackroid's Julia Child Skit and Bill Murray as that lousy lounge singer that would pop up from time to time in early episodes.

Thanks, Frank. A good friend of mine at work insisted that she saw musical segments with the Blues Brothers during the '78-'79 season. Been so many years, I can't remember.

Bill Murray as the Lounge Singer! Oh, yeah! It was fantastic, and very believable, given the kind of talent that played the Holiday Inn in Virginia Beach in those days. We naturally assumed Bill had visited there on some night a few years before, and therein got his material. One night, a shipmate and I watched him do the Lounge Singer while we were both lit up, and they literally had to pick us up off the floor when he did the theme from 'The Love Boat'...

I liked Alec Baldwin and the Schweatey Balls radio spot. TV guid put it on the list of 100 of the most memorable TV moments. It ranked in the 60's.

I also liked Norm Macdonals brother when he would do the news. Not his real brother but they said he was. He would get flustered being on TV and start just rambling words and you think they dont match but then as he went along they would form a theme. And he would say it like he wanted to get the hell off of the air.

I think the funniest single show was the first show right after the 2000 election night with Calista Flockhart. That was the funniest show. It was the only show where every single skit was fucking hillarious.
