From what i have read online it's getting pretty poor reviews from critics. But only true horror fans know a good movie when they see one. Non-horror fans never will.

I loved the original Saw. Pure genius. I own it on Dvd.

Has anybody watched this yet? it's out in theaters now.

I'm not a horror fan, so I don't know what to think about this movie, but I agree with you about critics. Who cares what they say? That's their job, to criticize, and you don't have to listen to them. Some people might think you're wasting your time and money but if you enjoy the film, then it's worth it, and that's your business. And now I'll shut up since I may have taken your post a little too seriously. 😀

I, too, loved the original and am dying to see this one. Hopefully it will not fall victim to the sequel from hell syndrome like most other horror movies do. We plan on going and seeing it in the theater as soon as Lazzy has an evening free from work.

Do the critics EVER have anything good to say about horror movies? I don't think I've seen one give high reviews to a single one yet. They like all those sappy artsy fartsy movies that no one seems to understand and that put you to sleep the first 5 minutes. Horror movies should be reviewed by genuine horror buffs...that way we know if it's truly worth checking out or not.

Mimi 😉

Let us know Mimi how Saw II was once you and Lazzy go to see it. And by ''US'' i mean true horror fans of the genre that are on this board. Since i proble won't be able to go see it in theaters any time soon because of crappy work and other things going on in my life right now.

I love to trail horror websites/forums to see what is playing or being reviewed by members or coming out soon straight to dvd or in theaters. 😀

No duh, the critics can probably guess the suprise ending to any movie. They've seen all of them probably three times each, just like those people who can say every line in the Breakfast Club. But, I did get from a non-critic review that the reason Jigsaw wants people to appreciate the good in their lives is because he is a frail cancer patient and can't do the things these people take for granted.

I can't wait to see Saw II. We own the first one on DVD, and this one looks like more fun (although I have to agree with "some of the puzzles look the same") than the original. I think adding more characters to the movie will make it more interesting this time.

Oh, and by the way, go see this movie because "It's the rules!" 😀

^-^ Interesting.

I do feel that this one will be much more interesting as well. More puzzles and new twists from what i have read from reviews online and with the previews.

I just hope that Lion Gate Films doesn't run theses Saw movies into the ground like so many horror movie series have. Like Halloween Friday the 13th movies Chucky etc....

Blood and gore.

Hey Guys!

I SAW it this afternoon. Went to the theater last night an hour early and the first show was already sold out. They had a couple of hundred people waiting in line for tickets for the late showing. Didn't feel like waiting in the cold, so I went today.

First off, without leaking any spoilers, I will say that I was fairly impressed with this movie for a sequel. There was a couple of twists at the end which were good, but not quite as surprising as the original. Paying more attention to the little details in this one, you can kinda sorta see the ending coming. This movie focused on Jigsaw moreso than the eight victims trapped in the house. He revealed a bit of his past and why he's doing what he's doing. The puzzles for the victims were decent. Yes, there was blood, but not as much as I anticipated. Overall, I think for a sequel, this movie was played out pretty good. If you liked the original, I think you'd like this one.

Also, for you horror fans: There was a couple of cool new movie trailers which you may wanna check out at yahoo movies. The first movie was called "Slither" which looks cool and the second was Quentin Tarantino's latest entitled "Hostel",

Great review gan_grel26.

It sounds like i'm going to enjoy the sequel then. And so are the other horror genre fans as well on this board by the sounds of it from this review.

What would you rate the Movie gan_grel out of 5 stars?

I saw the trailer for "Hostel" at the theater today before SAW II. The movie was directed by Eli Roth. Tarantino is listed as the executive producer. I found it also on yahoo movies.

As for SAW II, Butterfly Wings, I'd give it 4 of 5 stars.

OOOO I love Tarantino movies! They're always so original.

I'm not a real fan of his movies. The movie of his that i liked was From Dusk Till Dawn. I just can't get into him for some reason.

Another big fan of horror movies here...but good ones. First off, forget critics. They are usually failed actors with a subconcious grudge. Plus, since they can't act, they need to appear "above it", superior in thier appreciation of film as an art form and so much more knowledgeable than us about...pretty much everything. Remember, Hollywood is full of important people who still openly hate George Lucas simply because he made the most successful film series of all time without them. You really think they're going to give horror movies a break?

That being said, I myself am not a huge fan of the endless-sequel slasher flicks that you spoke of earlier. They serve thier purpose, but I really like a well-written and -acted horror film that works as a smart piece of celluloid as well.

I did like Saw, although I have yet to see the sequel. I am one of those guys who annoys everyone in the room by figuring out who's doing what and what's going on...usually about ten minutes into the film. But, in Saw, I never saw it coming when the dead body stood up at the end. Plus, it reached a part of you that exists in the darkness. Good horror films will do that.

Actually, there are some very good horror films in the independant sector of filmmaking. There are three films that stick out in my mind at the moment from smaller companies...ones that are at the top of my list. Session 9, Series 7 and Dog Soldiers are worth a good look.

:triangle:

The first SAW was mediocre at best... If you want to see a real horror movie, watch Seven.

"Seven" is my all time favorite movie. I've seen it well over 100 times and never get sick of it. So perfect, so twisted, so ingenious...well written, well acted, and plenty of blood and gore while still psychologically keeping you interested.

I've seen both Session 9 and Series 7, and I honestly could not get into either one. Session 9 just made NO damn sense to me at all, and while Series 7 was a bit better, it still didn't fill that deep seated scare crave I have when watching a horror flick.

I do love your typical slasher flicks....I grew up on those. And not just your famed Friday the 13th, Halloween, and Nightmare on Elm St's either. I mean ones like April Fools, Happy Birthday to Me, Slumber Party Massacre, I Spit on Your Grave, Make them Die Slowly, Mortuary, etc.

But movies that really do it for me are the ones that combine the graphic gore/violence, and psychological horror. The entire Hannibal series, Seven, Final Destinations 1 and 2 (OMG can't WAIT for part 3!!!), and Saw fit my ideal good movie basics. I want to honestly be a touch disturbed by the content of the movie.

And speaking of being disturbed by a movie....can any really top the original "Sleepaway Camp" as an all around mindfuck? LOL

Mimi 😀

The trailer for Final Destination 3 played yesterday too. I forgot to include that one. This time its on a roller coaster and the special effects looked awesome.

Omg! Thanks grel....I am SO anticipating that one! The first two were awesome, and I have a feeling the 3rd will not disappoint!

It's only a shame the uber sexy Ali Larter won't be back for the third installment.

Final Destination part 1 and 2 were outstanding pieces of work. Pretty original IMO a breath of fresh air from what has become kind of stale in the horror genre. I can't wait either for the third one.

Warning: Big pictures

Here are a few pictures from the Final Destination 3 set

Mimi or Dave2112

I don't know if either of you are familiar with the cult classic Sleepaway Camp slasher movies of the early 80's.

But THEY are finally after all theses years. They are finally going to bring back that series again with Return To Sleepaway Camp.

Read about it here
http://www.upcominghorrormovies.com/movies/return.php

Now it's just rumors (like most movies). But the small article said that it was supposed to be out next year.

Yepper, BW....read my last post on the first page of this thread. I list the original Sleepaway Camp as being the ultimate mindfuck horror movie. We own the 3 DVD set of the original series, though only the first one was any good.

It would be interesting to see what they would do with a new installment of that movie, for sure!

And OMG that poster for FD3 is awesome!

Yeah it should be great to see what they do with the new installment of it. Let's just pray that they cast fairly unknown people in it for the Return to sleepaway camp and not some teen boppers to ruin the whole 80's scene that this movie brought to life.

If you want gore and bloody horror movies Mimi then check out The Guinea Pig series. I have heard from tons and tons of gore fiends that this series has far more gore and blood in it then most movies out. Even far more then peter jackson's Dead Alive aka Brain Dead (the unrated version).

Do not eat/drink anything though while viewing theses movies.
