Hi folks,

This only applies to a handful of people that I was speaking to in chat a few weeks ago, but I'd like to apologise sincerely for the jibberish, keyboard tapping nonsense that I subjected you to for however long. I did have a quick look at the my deeds the next morning and it looks like it was all random letters and nothing at all of note, but thank you for having patience with me as I can't imagine you were happy to see "Captain Bad is typing..." after that.

Now for the hard bit. Unfortunately, a few weeks ago I relapsed on a particular drug that I've been fond of since I was 18 years of age (I'm 34 now. Yeah). I had been doing well for coming up to two years, but the stress of early 2026 simply "got to me", I suppose. I'm not asking you for pity, but I'd rather you have context as to why I couldn't type full words to you the last time we chatted.

I am back on the wagon now, but I'm still far too shy to go on Chat again for a while longer. I'm embarrassed and want to come back when I feel right. I've prided myself on being a gentleman in chat (and IRL of course). so to betray that for even a minute is a huge deal for me.

This community rules and so many of you have made it a wonder to be a part of.

I don’t use chat that much anymore, and I don’t know you, but I just wanted to say that I admire you facing your own missteps and doing your best to explain and reconcile them. I think it’s important to remember here that gentlemen and rogues alike make mistakes, but some of the more defining differences between the two are intention and one’s willingness to face those mistakes. I’m sorry you’ve had this experience and even sorrier that you have to face challenges like these, but those aren’t elements that define you at the core. The expression of your vulnerability here and the sincerity of your message says more about who you really are. You have nothing to be ashamed about, but i also understand human emotions are what they are and you’ll probably need time to center yourself. I wish you the best of luck going forward—take care!
