Hello all! I've just recently moved back in with my parents *ugh I know, total bummer* and I'm afraid that some how through the magic of internet connection and wifi, that they're going to be able to find my search history and websites visited. We don't use the same computer. I have my laptop and I'm pretty careful with deleting my search history but I'm still nervous! lol. Is there a way they can see this information if we don't share the same computer but are on the same wifi network?

I use two different browsers. One for work/normal stuff, the other for this site and related things. If anyone ever uses my computer, I make sure they use my "normal" one. I also clear my search history after coming here just to be extra safe

Oh, to answer your question. The answer is no, I am not aware of any way they can see it. btw, I also live with my parents. I know it sucks, but don't get too bummed

Yes they can but unless one of them programs for a hobby or living, you don't need to worry about it. If they REALLY wanted to, they could hire out easily but that's... not what parents do. Save the paranoia for the zombie apocalypse.

That's interesting, I didn't know that, but it makes sense. My mom needs help just updating her ipod, so I should be in the clear

Most browsers have a private mode that nothing gets saved. I use that when I get online on this site or any other site I don't want people to know I use. I know Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Netscape have that function. I don't know about other browsers though. And as far seeing what you do because they're on the same WiFi network, no. That just means you're connected to the same internet, not connected computers. And even if they're connected computers, like someone can get into your computer, that usually just lets them see files, not access your internet stuff. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Actually, I can search for and read your personal internet browser history from my private node access and ....... wait a second..... OMG! you are such a perv!

Joking! 🙂

Yeah, I use a computer that others in my family use. It uses to worry me too. I'd delete search history but sometimes they'd still show up if someone would type something with a t in the web address part... so I'm glad for the Icognito Browser from Google Chrome and the Private Browsing from Internet Explorer that doesn't save anything... no more worrying about that.
