I vaguely remember what happened in the first one, but I remember enough to know I thought it was stupid, and thats when I was a kid. Now, grown up, seeing the previews for the newest one surely is a validation of my initial impression all those years ago- a stupid doll, a stupid plot, and a waste of time. And there was absolutely nothing funny about the "opps, I did it again!" whack at Britney Spears, who isn't even in the film. How stupid. Not that her being in it would have helped...in fact..it would have made it worse!
How the hell is there anything scary about a malicious killer doll and his little ***** of a wife, when they look sort of like cabbage patch kids? I've seen scarier. Horror films really have gone south in these times we live. The expectations are subpar and they really aren't trying to scare us so much as they are trying to make low-budget films in an attempt to rake in some cash. How pitiful, and whats sad is it's true for other genres as well. The whole entertainment industry has really lost it's touch. Everything is CG now, and it's less about the actual acting than it is about the action. Acting is very important, as is dialogue, as it makes the characters real and believable. These movies are supposed to win us over with explosions, blood and gore? Were we ever that easy to please as an audiance? Surely our standards are better than this.
Sorry if this is off-topic. Anyways, I won't be seeing this new Chuckie movie.
