Seeing a movie by yourself = loser?

I've seen a few movies alone... in those... uh... carnal, er... fine arts theaters... j/k

But seriously, there's nothing wrong with watching a film alone. It might feel a little lonely, but I've done it before.

Been there, done that. Doesn't bother me. I also go out to eat alone. Color me strange. But sometimes, I'm not the best company (I've been called anti-social... I prefer introverted/shy). Or I'm better company than any other I can come up with...not to sound snobbish.

it doesnt make you a loser or any less of a person because you go to see a movie alone. i mean we all watch tv and movies at home alone..so whats the difference?

its just cause the common joe "says" you have to do things this way and that way that sometimes we forget that some of the most simple things are no big deal, like this 🙂

i went to a movie by myself one time back many years ago..and it didnt bug me one bit! i actually enjoyed it better cause i didnt have anyone yackin away and annoying me so i could watch it in peace! Lol
 
I have the same problem, as my film selection is often vastly different from what my friends like to see, that or if there is something we all want to see we can't find a good time to do so.

I blame the mid-90's sitcom "Dave's World" with Harry Anderson. There was an episode where one of the characters sticks out like a soar thumb because he's alone at a movie, and it is looked upon in a loserly way.

Anyway, don't feel bad. Besides, the people who would consider you a loser for seeing a movie alone are the types you really don't want to be around anyway.
 
I would definitly go to a movie alone. As some have already pointed out, its not like you socialize during the movie anyways. That being said I probably would agree with Krazie and not go alone on a weekend night or opening night.
 
I havent gone by myself, BUT, one day I wanted to go and watch Transformers for the 5th time SO badly that I took my mum to avoid going alone 😛 😀
 
I think I saw 'Big Daddy' on my own when I was 12. Mum was getting her hair done at some salon and I was bored.

I think I almost cried in that flick, so if I was on my own, I'm glad.

Since I've been with Bill since 1492 and we're absolutely movie freaks I've only been to two movies by myself ever: Welcome to the Dollhouse and The Passion of the Christ . Both times were simply because I wanted to experience the film alone and form my own bond with the film. There's nothing a bit wrong with seeing a flick by yourself, occasionally Bill will go to our local $1 theater and see something on the screen that we've already seen together (cough LOTR cough), it's a great way to spend some 'you' time for an afternoon 🙂

No your not a looser I have seen many movies alone and I don't consider myself to be a looser.

I totally agree that seeing movies with friends are more fun. I have gone to movies by myself, if I ever go see one I always usually alone because all my friends don't live close by.

I certainly don't think that seeing movies alone qualifies you as a loser. Not by any means. I do understand why you might think that because It's gone over in my mind too.

I suppose their have been times where I wouldn't see a movie when I was in high school without someone to go with but now days if I seriously want to see a movie, I pretty much have to go alone with no one around to go with me .

So.. maybe that makes me a loser too.

You are not a loser unless you come to a fetish forum and start a thread about being a loser.

(Well, maybe you are anyway. It's not like there's a reliable flow chart out there to judge these things. I've Googled it; it ain't there)
 
I have never gone to a movie alone, its just more fun to go with friends.. usually talk before the movie and go out and eat or something else after
 
By all means, see a movie by yourself! There's no good reason not to. I usually bring a book or iPod to keep me occupied if I get there early.
 
I haven't been to see a flick on my own before, mainly because the films I wanna see there's always been someone else that has wanted to go too, mostly my sister.

If I was that tempted to see a film that no one else did, I think I would get over my pounding heartbeat and go alone, but not on its first day of release, I'm not that brave :blaugh:
 
I'm planning on going Friday morning, since that way I should be able to avoid the mass of humanity in the evening. Also, its the $4.00 "cheap" show time!

Then I will come here and post a spoiler filled review! (just kidding)

Sitting alone at the movies doesn't make you the creepy guy sitting in the theater by himself unless you were already the creepy guy. I've been to a few movies by myself, it's not that bad and it's definitely cheaper. If plans get fucked up or you just happen to be bored and in the area, it's a fine time to see a movie.

That's true, because there's plenty of guys and gals I see alone at the movies and they look like normal, movie loving people, such as myself. Then you do get the occasional weirdo, but who cares? Have fun, we're gonna die sometime.
 
If you really want to feel what it is like to be a creep loser:


1. Be a guy

2. Go see a matinee of a Dora or Howl's Moving Castle or Hanna Montana 3-D, or whatever kid's movie is really hot property for that moment....

3. ....alone.


Then, in comparison, you'll find out how truly awesome you are for seeing a grown-up(ish) movie by yourself.
