Well, as we know, in about 90 minutes in the East, it will be September. This is usually a very exciting month for major league baseball teams in contention for division and wild card spots.

My Atlanta Braves had so many wonderful Septembers from 1991 to 2005, all starting with a little, innocent September in 1991, when they, the last place losers of the year before, outlasted the Dodgers for the NL West on the second to last day of the season.

1993 was even better. That year, as baseball fans know, the NL West at that time, went down to the final day, decided when Mils' Dodgers demolished the Giants, sending them home, with 103 wins.

The wild card has diluded this a bit, as, if the wild card had existed at that time, the Giants would have made the playoffs easily in 1993, and the Dodgers would have made it in 1991.

The Braves and Phillies are giving a very interesting race in the NL East. Philly is playing at a disadvantage with all their injuries, but the Braves have had a very good season so far.

I fully expect that one of those teams is going to win the NL East, and the other one the wild card, and that things between the two teams will be settled in the NL Championship Series, which is how it should be. Two good teams, playing for the chance to go to the World Series.

Bring On September! I welcome it!

You're a Braves fan in Pennsylvania? Wow, that's rare...

Still, it's good to see another Braves fan here. 😀 I think our team is going to do very well in the playoffs.

Macphisto, I've been a Braves fan since 1983. I lived in CT then. I also lived in Fort Lee, NJ, from 1989, until moving here in 1999. I've always been a Braves fan.

I have confidence that the Braves will make the playoffs. I dont know yet whether it will be as the wild card, or NL East champs. The ten day, Washington/Philly/NY road trip in mid September, is making me uneasy. The Phillies are good, and the Mets, although mediocre in record, play very well at home.

My gut tells me that both the Braves and Phillies are going to make the playoffs, with one as the NL East champ, and the other as the wild card. As to which way it plays out, September, and maybe early October, will decide that.

I'm more into the NFL than I am baseball, so I'm really excited for the start of the season next week.

But if this doesn't get you fired up for baseball's home stretch, nothing will:

Very nice video. Thanks. The Atlanta Braves September began very nicely as well, with a 4-1 win over the Metropolitans of New York City. Woo hoo! Philly is still on our tail though, only three games out, so I know we have much work to do in September before we can think of any playoff spots.

It must be tough being a Braves fan, they always seem to be competitive but not all that great in the post season. World Series winners 1914, 1957 and 1995, 3 for 9. They should at least make the wild card. Spahn, Sain and then pray for rain.
