As someone who has fallen prey to ticklers at previous workplaces, I'll note that there's a real kick of fun to being tortured by a coworker like that -- the embarrassment of having your professional demeanor undermined in front of a broad audience of both men and women, the helplessness of being required to deliver yourself every day to the place where your tickler resides.
But there's definitely also a downside to that. Seeing you squirm and writhe with helpless giggles in the office, especially if it happens repeatedly, does color some people's perceptions of you -- they don't necessarily say anything but you can tell that on some level they've decided you're frivolous or immature or unprofessional or lacking in self-control, and I'm convinced it affected not only my image in the work community there but it also negatively affected my eligibility for promotions and other opportunities. Just sayin'.
