seriously, whats up with these gas prices?

perhaps not, but the unfortunate thing is that people gotta pay, especially those that don't have access to public transportation.

Gas prices seem to be high due to growing global demand, static global supply, and a weak dollar. Analysts seem to be think we'll be stuck with gas near $4 per gallon for the foreseeable future, and I agree with them. Now would be a good time to start thinking about making structural changes to systematically reduce your fuel usage: replace your car with a more fuel efficient model and/or move closer to work.

In the meantime, there's a lot you can due to save money on gas:

  • Accelerate and break gently.
  • Keep your speed around 55 mph on the freeway.
  • Make sure your tires are properly inflated every time you fill up your gas tank.
  • Remove any unnecessary extra weight from your trunk.
  • When possible, walk, bike, use transit, or carpool.

all i have to say about that is goverment greed

Nope. Current high prices have nothing to do with government greed. Certainly not the United States government. The United States government has almost no control over gas prices, and current prices are now so high that the government is actually taking in less gas tax revenue than before.

Be thankful y'all ain't paying the higher diesel prices like us truckers are:rant:

The hell with the oil companies

I don't like these gas prices either, but let me tell ya, I'd much rather pay these prices than have the GAS LINES OF THE 70'S come back to haunt us.

When your gas tank ran low, you'd have to devote a whole afternoon trying to find a station that had gas, then hope they still had some left when you reached the front of the line after 4 hours or so. No thanks.

Let's hope the govt can refrain from price meddling or the gas lines will return.

If people would stand in solidarity, a nationwide strike could do some damage. Truckers got the idea in Jersey

Be thankful you dont live in the UK....cost of fuel here makes yours look like bargain bin prices

Good luck trying to get that done. I am speaking from personal experience that organizing anybody to make a stand against future detriment by a largely conservative, pro-corporate order is a waste of time. It's not going to stop me from trying, though.

Then again, I live in Canada. This country is filled with gutless neo-suburbanite douche bag shit smears!

...Err. I mean, people who might be put off by inacting an anti-sanctifying excersise in agression flexed toward our current administration.:santasmil

We have bigger problems than gas prices though. The rising oil costs are part of this package in a small degree. I suggest to those who are interested, to look up all you can about the SPP. Otherwise known as the security and prosperity partnership between Canada, the U.S., and Mexico.

You think things are bad now?

Hey! When did we get these smilies?>:suibun::roflmao:

A nationwide strike would only work if people actually reduce the amount of gas they use. Simply filling up the day before the strike or the day after the strike will do nothing if you don't change the amount of gas you use.

People are unwilling to take steps to reduce their consumption for their own selfish economic self-interest. I really don't expect them to do so for solidarity towards some higher purpose.

Sure the price of gas makes me sick. but there isn't much you can do about it. I just paid 3.75 per gallon for regular unleaded just yesterday. But you know here is the true irony. People complained when the price of gas went over the $2 mark and now look where its at. Now they are wish for those days again lol

I'm still shocked we haven't figured out solar power yet...I think its a conspiracy...:ermm:

a even more unfortunate thing is paying for the gas that my car takes me to the terminal where the public transportation takes me to Logan airport

In general I agree with what you said. But I think we'd be very lucky to be stuck with gas prices at $4/gallon. That may be a floor, but it sure isn't a ceiling.

Prices on gas is pretty fucked up indeed.
Here in Norway (one of the biggest oil countries in the world) it costs about 2,5 dollar per LITER for gas! :ignite:

I hear you, it's not too cheap here in Sweden either, even though you guys
have higher foodprices if I'm not mistaken 😵

I feel your pain but bearing in mind that the US & Canada are much larger land masses. It's just over 1000km from Bergen, Norway to Stockholm, Sweden. To drive across the US is well over four times that distance. Given that Europeans tend to be smarter in their choice of car, the cost per liter would be offset by the fuel economy of a smaller car, plus the (relatively) shorter distances one would normally tend to travel within the country.

Gas prices are creeping up here in the Great White North as well. I made the decision to purchase and ride a scooter, rather than a car, for various reasons (gas prices only being one of them). Last time I filled it up, I paid about CAD$1.30 per litre. :ranty:

Then again, I should be lucky - $5.00 for a full tank gets me about 100km. Shouldn't complain, I suppose. 😀
