Happy Holidays everyone.

I just thought I'd start a thread so I could hear some of the wonderful things you have experienced this Christmas/ Holiday season (for those of you who have other celebrations too!) 😀.

For me, I couldn't have prayed for a better Christmas break. I needed the rest, the time off from school, and I needed to just get away from Georgia for awhile. Spending time with old friends, and making new ones has been an added bonus.

I have much much more to tell about the fun I am having, and how much I've enjoyed spending time with a friend who I have wanted to meet for ages.... I want to hear about you all first....

So tell me.... Share with us what you did/ or are doing for the holidays this year.

Be safe and Be Merry!

Top THIS Story....

This little Christmas Story actually started about a month ago but came into total focus on Christmas Day.

I will try to make this as brief as possible but will need to set it up some.

For the MOST part, I never really had a father. My life for the better portion has been full of lies and deception from my family.
Even my heritage was unknown and the lies were not even consistant.
First I was Italian, then I was part Spanish and part Italian.
Then I was Costillian Spanish.
First my Mom and dad were supposedly divorced then I found out in my late teens that my mom and alledged father were never married.
I have met my father maybe 20 times total in my life. The last time I saw him was in 1973. I was 13. In 1975 I dropped the last letter off my name just to alter it enough to have nothing to do with the man who to me, deserted me or was never a dad to me anyway. My mother would not "ok" an actual change of my name and as I grew older, it just became a pain in the rump roast to do it officially so I just lived with the AKA and still do to this day.
Have not seen him since.
In a letter written to me by my mother, about a few weeks before her death......apparantly she knew she was at the end of her...life.
She came somewhat clean with the lies and it was backed up by a "friend" of hers and the blanks were filled in as well by her that it was an Affair that my mom had with my "father" or the man who "fathered me" and that HE had another family somewhere in New York. My mother died of cancer in 1994. (I was 34 friggin years old)
I spent alot of time trying to track the man down to no avail. He covered his tracks pretty damn well. He owned a business in the Bronx that I know about but it was closed down many many years ago.
I could not even find out any trace of my Heritage or HIS side of the family.
Events happened that led me to be where I am today and in the field I am in today. IF not for those events, every single one of them, I would not be where I am today and what I am about to tell you would not have happened.
An injury, a fire and a catasrophy. The fact that I decided to take care of my grandmother on my own as opposed to dumping her in a convalecent home and the fact that a company I worked for in public relations got sued and went out of business because wome asswipe misrepresented the company which led me to go into pipefitting where I got injured which led me to be home the day an electrical fire started which gave me the ability to get my very sick grandmother out of the house in time and call the fire department prior to the alarms going off which, for that extra three minutes, safed the house and the lives therein but pused my grandmother over the edge to move out of that house where I then purchased another home in south Jersey and after about three years of not working and being a home health aid, made me go into the medical field.....purchase a computer and find the TMF chatroom where I could not go with WEB TV which is what I had sice 1998 and now being the year 2001 where I met, shygirl, who was on line coming out of the closet somewhat to experience finally a real tickle session with someone because of the 9/11 Disaster where she and I met and became a couple after she and her soon to be x husband began divorce preceedings subsequently making me decide to move to NY State and go to work for a Lab where, last month or so, this lady comes into the lab for bloodwork.🙄
Normally I would not have even been working in that lab that day but since another employee of the company was on disability and another was sent elsewhere and subsequently fired, I was transfered from what was to be my home work base to another facility or patient service center where I called this next patient into the drawing room.
She remarked, after seeing my name tag that, "if you added an S onto your name, that was my Maiden name".
I responded: "well, as a matter of fact, there is an S on my name but I dropped it off in 1975 for personal reasons as a rebellion against my so called Father".
After further conversation of me explaining all I knew of my father and his business he owned and the next day me bringing in pictures of him, it turned out that HER Uncle(fathers' brother) was MY FATHER!
She is MY First Cousin....and I have a half brother and sister living in NY......and a boat load of other cousins all in the NY area along with HER (my first cousin and patient of mine in the lab) live 10ish minutes away from my home here in Rockland County and only a few minutes away from where I work!
This past Christmas Day, I had a huge family UNION not even a REunion since I never met or knew of these people before. I found my heritage which is Italian(Naples, Italy). There are still more I have to meet including my Half brother and sister who could not be there that day and are about to find out of MY existance.

Got up............

....about 2.30pm Christmas day, fone already been ringing for about 3 hours. Massive hangover, had a mouth like the bottom of a babies pram, all piss and broken biscuits. Pulled clothes on, loaded car up with "festive cheer" and arrived at familly "bash" about two hours late. House full of eight screaming nephews, all wearing out size, green musical boxing gloves. Got a number of "playfull" punches in the nuts, much to the amusement of the corresponding parents.

Handed out "festive cheer" to still laughing parents, and, even less willingly, gave away $70 dollar gift tokens to all budding pugilists. Ate cold food and swapped "friendly" insults with various "rellies". Kept carefull but discreet watch on the time on my fone, and answered incoming e mails under the table.

Experience welcome relief listening to "Nine lessons and carols" on the radio from Kings Colledge Cambridge. Could not hear all of it due to sporadic, and unscheduled boxing bouts, all of which seemed to be taking place close to my refuge in the corner of the kitchen.

Expressed bogus gratitude for gifts such as, leather bound spectacle holder, and bamboo shoots set in four clear plastic drink coasters. Wondered about house to ensure as high a profile as possible to all present, as prelude to a sharp exit. Came across small group of nephews resting between "rumbles" and now heavily engrossed in extreamly violent computer game.

Sat down in arm chair rather too quickly, and found my rear end in conflict with hastily discarded large green boxing glove. Having extracated the aformentioned and effected my repose, I then toyed rather absent mindedly with the now forgotten xmas gift. I put it on my hand, and, noticing the seredipidous proximity of a distracted nephew, cuffed him "playfully" around the head.

The ear splitting screams of indignation and immitations of mortal injury which ensued, were worthy of the highest paid Premiership footballer. The relevant parents had miraculously lost their sense of humour regarding injuries sustanied from large green musical boxing gloves.

Thank god for pubs that open on Christmas day evening.

Christmas Eve: We started out at my house today because every year, our whole family comes over. I locked my room earlier that morning to keep all the rugrats out. My aunt (dad's sister)came over like earlier that morning to help make food and clean the house with us. They had gotten here like the night before. Later that day, people started arriving to my house and the fun began. I had custody of my bf that day b/c his fam doesn't do anything for Christmas Eve. He couldn't come with me at first because he had to help his mom wrap presents and all that good stuff, but i helped her out on the 23rd so he could coe with me. I learned that wrapping a basket so you cant see whats in the basket while still trying to wrap the entire basket. So anyway, once my grandparents and the rest of my aunt's family came over, we did the whole family present exchange thing. After that was over, me and my cousin went and hid away in town somewhere because my mom said we were in the way. A few hrs later, we came back to the house and it was filled with people. Everyone brought food with them, so I got scared when I got back cause there was food all over the house. My grandpa and my uncles hid away in the basement and played cards while all my cousins and I sat upstairs and watched the annual scary movie. This yr, they were watching Signs, which was a good movie. I was afraid to walk into the kitchen because my relatives filled up like the whole thing. Someone in the family had a baby this yr, so I played with her for a little while. Shes so cute and i dont feel that outnumbered by boys now in the family. After I gave the baby back, my mom asked me to set up the TV in my brother's old room so the little kids could play video games in there. Everyone wouldnt quit bugging me about college alllllllllllll day, so I just told them "It has tall buildings. I like food." and that made them laugh cause i said it in the most rediculous voice ever. About 10:30 that night, tho, almost everyone was gone, so my dad, my brothers, my bf and I went to church. I didnt recognize people there anymore, they all looked different. Christmas Eve church is still the best: carols, candles, everything. I went to bed early that night b/c i had to get up on Christmas and do the whole thing over again with my mom's family, but at least it was at my aunt's house and not ours.
BTW, if you havent seen Bad Santa yet, go see it. Its really funny. We went to see it on Christmas and I about died laughing (again).
Hope everyone else had as much fun on Christmas as i did.

Stacy

This year I spent Christmas day with my family as usual. I am blessed to still have both of my parents to share the holidays with. I was invited to spend Christmas eve with a family of kind, warm and generous people I've only known for a short time, thanks to GuitarPeteTklr:Kiss2: Good food, great company, who could ask for more? They've always gone out of their way to make me feel at home and welcome. I hope this the first of many Christmas celebrations to come. :grouphug:
Good health, much love and many joys to all of you in the coming year.

Let's See...

Worked 14 hours. Got home at 930PM and read the last 250 pages of Road To Stalingrad: Stalins War Against Germany. Finished said book at 1AM. Started reading Road To Berlin (Part 2 of Ericksons EXCELLENT history of the Eastern Front)

On Boxing Day got a surprise gift in the mail. Someone bought me Soviet Battleships a book I've been hoping for for a LONG time! Who'd of thunk walmart.com would have it.
