Lyz, I'm so sorry! This actually happened to one of my best friends a few years back. She was in the adoption stages for a new kitty when she learned the same sad thing. As someone who has recently lost a cat as well, you have my deepest sympathy. It is completely understandable that you'd be upset. Don't let the brief length of time you had this sweet little guy dictate how bad you should feel.

Not at all. It hurts to put a pet down, even when it's for the best. My last cat (Casper) had leukemia, and was put down in '06. It's been almost 4 years and I'm still sad about it.

What is most important to remember is that, like Sasaxrah said above, you made a difference and did your best to take care of Kizmo! Be comforted knowing that your pet was in a safe and loving home, even if it did seem like such a short time.
