Situations when I get ticklish, while tickling is not intended...

I wonder if there are more people who are so horribly ticklish that at some points it affects you even when tickling is not intended at all? This happens to me a lot, and I have never been subjected to real tickle torture/bondage or whatsoever, but I think it is because I have been tickled, poked and teased by most of my classmates on daily basis at both high school and college.

And while I used to think that being tickled that much might make me immune eventually, the opposite happened and it has only gotten worse. So yeah, I enjoy a good tickle fight but my level of sensitivity has also become quite an obstacle in daily life. In what kind of situations does your ticklishness get in your way?

For me that would be for example:

- When someone reaches out to me, or to grab something near my side. I immediately flinch, thinking they're reaching out to poke or tickle me. My best friend (female) always notices when this happens, which results in a real tickle attack afterwards...

- When someone whispers something in my ear or pats my head. My head and ear area have become more ticklish with the years, and it makes me scrunch up my shoulders and giggle.

- When someone puts a hand on my leg, especially when it's my knee. I tense up completely, giggle or immediately pull back. Most of the times I try to hold back and just tense up, because in situations like these my ticklishness embarrasses me..

- When I'm out dancing at a party, and flirty guys sneak up on me and wrap an arm around me from behind to dance together (idk about Americans but European guys do this a lot). In most cases their hand will land on my stomach or side, and I immediately jerk back hysterically. In some cases they notice, and start to tickle me for real too.

- When my cat climbs/walks on top of my torso... I love cats so I used to enjoy and encourage this, but recently this only gets more and more ticklish and I have to throw the poor animal off. I know, random.

- When trying out clothes, and a friend/family member or shop employee buttons up a blouse or fixes the shirt I'm trying to fit. I have to suck in my stomach and hold in my breath to keep from laughing.

- When I take a shower where the water stream has more pressure than I'm used to (this is the case with the shower at my dad's place). It's crazy to think that I can be tickled by... water.

- As explained in detail in my Airport Tickling post, when people have to frisk me, at airports for example. I can't believe that this doesn't tickle most people.

Indeed, I've got a few of these situations under my belt as well. Things like...

--Receiving hugs from anyone who's shorter than me and therefore can only get their arms around my waist and midriff area.

--Any time anyone nears my feet when I'm lying down or sitting in a recliner or whatever, I get a little jumpy. Especially when I'm barefoot.

--When I go to the doctor, and they do that... thing... I'm not really sure what is is they're looking for, but when they do that thing where they feel around your torso? Yeah, that thing.

--Once in high school P.E. when we were doing the swimming unit, and I was part of the small group of students who didn't know how to swim so they were focusing on teaching us, and the P.E. teacher's (hot) TA was trying to show me the proper way to hold my body in the water, which involved her gently holding me around the stomach a bit. She didn't understand why I was so squirmy all of a sudden... XD

--Those chairs at theme parks with the built-in foot massagers. Yeap.

--That cat thing--yep, I experience it, too. I love little kitties, but their tiny li'l paws tickle like hell when they're climbing on my solar plexus... XD
As an extension of that, I've had dogs jump on me to say hello, and their paws did pretty much the same thing.

--Any time I have my arms up over my head for any reason--if I'm holding onto something, or reaching up to grab something, or whatever--and someone approaches me from the side. My arms snap back down at the speed of sound, I swear...

--Similarly, if I'm sitting cross-legged somewhere, so that my feet are sticking out to the sides, and someone approaches me then.

It's called palpating 🙂

Ah, thank you! Yes, that thing! It tickles, and it suuuuuucks... 'Cause like, I try so hard not to squirm or laugh, but of course I fail miserably every time, and then the doctor gives me that little smirk and is like, "Hehe, are you ticklish?" It's so frigging embarrassing... XD

Omg thanks for sharing!🙂 That all sounds sooooo familiar for me too! Especially snapping back my arms when someone nears me and I have them stretched out, so embarrassing!XD my best friend tickles me everytime she catches me when I do this, sarcastically saying "you have so much faith in me!" as if she's offended. Haha.

And yeah I'm glad I barely go to the doctor. o.o

Ha ha, you would be so much fun to tie you arms to a hook in the ceiling in a swimsuit top and bare feet then just walk around ya and tease you, occasionally reaching out like I was going to stroke your sides or armpits.... :laughhard: :rowfull:

PFF, I'm not sure which of us you're aiming that at--probably Kusu--but regardless, you're an evil, evil person... XD

Kusu, but you are right. I can be very evil when the mood hits me! 😛

My favorite topic in the whole wide world 🙂

I'm always thrilled when someone brings up the topic of unintentional tickling. Here are a few threads I've started on it in the past, in case you're interested 🙂

doctor tickles, pedicures, massages and other "accidental" tickles

things that aren't supposed to tickle....but do 🙂

Unintentional tickles

Patdowns

You'll also find if you search my started threads, that I've posted a plethora of both true and fictional stories centered around unintentional tickling, primarily about girlfriends over the years.

So...I could talk and write about this subject for hours.

For now I suppose I'll stick with the question you asked. Even though I tend to be more interested in sharing stories of these kinds of scenarios happening to my girlfriend, ex-girlfriends, and female friends (and have countless ones like that up my sleeve), this actually happens to me a lot. There are so many of these kinds of scenarios and they ALWAYS make me think about the same thing you mentioned: "So many people have to go through this, and I can't imagine it isn't excruciatingly ticklish for just about every single person!" Here are some instances I've experienced:

-Pat-downs entering concerts. I mean...it's basically a tickling session, right? They swipe, stroke, and feel around all of your most ticklish spots!! It's almost unbearable for my in the tummy and waistline area.

-Speaking of the tummy and waistline area, suit fittings or a trip to the tailor usually have an extremely ticklish moment when the tailor reaches into the pants at the waist to feel how tightly fitting they are. This area is by far my most ticklish spot and it's literally agonizing for me when they do this, but it lasts only a few seconds.

-Doctors abdominal exams. My favorite to hear about....though awkward to endure myself. Not as bad as they used to be when I was young....when they were very hard to take.

-Professional massages. For me this usually gets unbearable when they work on my legs (upper thighs, calves) and feet.

-Occasionally a friend will walk by me and in an affectionate/bro-like kind of pat my stomach, as a kind of just greeting or acknowledgement. But my stomach is so ticklish that I usually embarrassingly have to flinch or grab their hand. Once this happened and the guy later asked me if I had some kind of injury to that area because of the way I protected it so instinctively when he went to touch it.

-At acupuncture sessions, sometimes the acupuncturist feeling around for just the right spot to place the needle tickles a lot if they're doing it on my stomach or chest. Several years ago an acupuncturist was doing that on my chest area and noticed me jump and asked if I was ticklish....so embarrassing...

-I've had physical therapy on my knee and have had to endure some pretty ticklish massage work there (like, "please let this end please let this end i don't know what to do i dont know what to do i cant take this") and even some feeling around/pressure on my abdomen which tickled like crazy too.

-I've even been tickled by a pot handle once.

My girlfriend gets accidentally tickled all the time, especially when people put their arm around her either as a greeting or to take a picture. Here's one such story, but it's happened several times since.

That's probably good for now...thanks so much for bringing this topic up and I hope we can continue 🙂

Wow haha I agree you are evil, I would be making a scene already without actually getting tickled.

Wow thanks for digging up those awesome topics, I read through all of them and had a couple of good laughs, because unintentional and accidental tickles are often the most hilarious stories as well! will check out your fiction too sometime 🙂

And yeah massages, I don't think I'll ever dare to have a massage because it'll be the most embarrassing torture. And luckily I don't have too many doctor experiences (yay for health and being lucky). But other culprit for me is the hairdresser: fingers grazing my neck or even tickling my scalp.

I looove hearing about unintentional tickles! It's awkward when I experience them myself, though. Hehe.

Oooh, I loved reading this! 😀

PFFT, I'll bet you did! XD
What about you, Smeggers? Care to tell us about your own ticklish situations? ;D

Heheh, alrighty then! 😉

When I was in Year 9, we had compulsory dance lessons for some reason. One time, we had to do this move where you place your hands around your partner's ribcage and lift them, or something like that. Well, the other person put her hands around my ribs really quickly and it tickled a bit. Luckily, I didn't react too much.

Another time, my mum was straightening my hair which was pretty long at the time. The straightening iron was very hot, and this is important. She accidentally brushed against my side and I squirmed a LOT. She noticed and said, "Oh! Sorry! Did I burn you?!" and I was like, "yeah... yeah, you burned me".

PSHT, that is adorable! XD Thank god I didn't have those dance lessons, because I would have been entirely too squirmy throughout the entire thing (even though I probably wouldn't be the one getting lifted, but eh... XD)!

Also, Kusu: right?? I can't stop staring at it! Like, I'll be typing something, and then suddenly I'll realize that I haven't hit a key in five minutes because I was too busy staring at Smeg's signature! XD

This may sound weird, but when I get my shoes shined. I'm ticklish right through the leather. Depending on the aggressiveness of the shoeshine guy, it's all I can do to keep from squirming and laughing out loud. I find myself biting my tongue the whole time.

Haha! Oh, you! 😉 Apparently my signature gave someone on here a seizure once... whoops.

Reminds me of Elf! 😀

This may not fit the subject at hand to exact detail, but it was an accidental experience I went through-

So my friends and I went to a local nightclub downtown for a few drinks, (which most do pat downs before entrance) and we decided to surprisingly go to the one who gave the most thorough pat downs lol.. So you know what this had to have ment! At the time it was cold, so I had on basic dressy pants, with a smaller T shirt ontop, but under a zip up jacket. Of course they asked us to raise our arms before the pat down began, but the female security asked me to unzip my jacket so the search was thoroughly done. I ended up doing so, and as soon as her hands slide under the opening of my jacket and slid under my arms I lost it hahaha I bursted into laughter and leaned over embarrassed like bad lmao there's my little experience ^_^
