Great timing with this..

A snowstorm is apparently coming to the North East/Mid Atlantic on Wednesday just in time for the holiday travel.

NYC looks like it will start as rain, and then change to snow. The temp isn't going to be very cold. Some forecasts say several inches might fall, but it may not stick to the ground much due to the warm temps.

Inland, in places like. Lancaster.. the Poconos, and Albany.. many inches is forecast, with Winter Storm Watches already posted.

Nice start to the holiday weekend. Bleh.

I am glad I will get home Tuesday night then.

Even though the high temp in NYC on Wednesday is supposed to be 39 degrees, they are still forecasting 4 to 6 inches of snow to fall in NYC

I just awakened to find that a Winter Storm Watch has been issued, by the NWS, and is posted at www.weather.com for four to eight inches of snow for NYC and vicinity.

Nice Thanksgiving present. GRRRRRRR!

Hey Mitchell,

Are you having any of the kind of weather they are having in western NY around Buffalo? That would seem to be a worse situation than yours, although any kind of weather that interferes with holiday travel sucks. I'm happy that here in the Midwest, it is Thanksgiving type temps without the precipitation. I love late fall Midwest temperatures.

No, none of that kind of weather here.

The weird thing..

There is still the Winter Storm Watch posted here, but the actual forecast looks like rain changing to snow, and maybe only a couple of inches. It is going to be worse north of here, I think.

The latest is that the Winter Storm Watch, has now been changed to a Winter Weather Advisory, for NYC and the area. Supposedly, three to five inches of snow, wet snow, with rain, etc, mixed in, is likely to fall. It's not going to be that cold.. so.. it doesn't look like a particularly hard or accumulating snowfall.

LOL, welcome to the north east, prepare to get snowed in at least ONCE in your lifetime up here. ^_^

I really feel for Buffalo though. Not only did the Bills not make the playoffs for the 15th time in a row but they got hit hard a couple of days ago. Yet I love Buffalo with all my heart. Want to know why? It's a city that ENDURES! It's the quintessential example of a city of rugged northerners. ^_^

I will say though that I particularly love winter as I don't have to deal with CREEPY CRAWLIES for 6 whole months! To me it's a fair trade off to have to shovel snow instead of get Orkin to spray my house every month.

Actually, the Bills' playoff hopes are still extant for this season, if on life support, by virtue of their storm-induced dome-away-from-home second victory of the year in Detroit (the lengths some teams go to to play on Monday night). Hardly surprisingly, it came against the hapless Jets, whom I nevertheless carry a grudging admiration for on account of their head coach being a fellow female foot fan and the fact that they summer-train in my little burg (or they did but probably won't anymore after Rex Ryan's inevitable sacking).

Yes, talk about a region that's been historically snakebit, the curse maybe having its germination in the assassination there of William McKinley at the turn of the last century: the deindustrialization that has more than halved Buffalo's population; the freakish weather including not just last week's inexplicable snow event but the famous '77 blizzard; Love Canal; the Colgan Air crash; the untimely death of universally beloved native son Tim Russert; and also being the provenance of Timothy McVeigh.

Then there are Buffalo's sports "tragedies" too, headlined by the Bills and their inconceivable four straight Super Bowl losses and the legacy of probably their most illustrious player being the now notorious O.J. Simpson; the perennial also-rans the Sabres, whose Stanley Cup dreams reverberate as "No goal!"; forever spurned by Major League Baseball; the departure of their lone NBA team, who eventually became the L.A. Clippers and were therefore so deserving of Donald Sterling; and the genuinely tragic cancer battle of icon Jim Kelly.

Yet through it all, blue-collar Western N.Y. endures, as you say DD, and stands proud. We here in Upstate N.Y. are conditioned--nay, indoctrinated--almost from birth to revere New York City for its unquestioned greatness, but I look west to Buffalo for my inspiration.

The weather people are asking that you not drive north of Harrisburg on I-81.

In New York City itself, we got 90% rain and no snow accumulation. :bouncybou
Parts of upstate New York were not so lucky. 🙁

It could be worse. You could be living in Buffalo. 😀

I'm near enough; three hours and change away, yet still not so close to smell it, believe it or not (but in range for the occasional westerly-borne snow off of Lake Erie).

Yes, the Interwebs sorely need a "Bad Luck Buffalo" meme for all the reasons I stated above. Just take ol' Brian and put him in a Bills or Sabres helmet and uniform; calls for the talents of someone more skilled at Photoshop than I.
