People really need to understand that when psychologists refer to a "disorder" (of any kind) they mean a condition that causes "clinically significant" disruption in the patient's life or his relationship to society. If that's not present, then almost no mental condition is a disorder.

A fetishist whose fetish causes serious interference in his or her life has a disorder. One who doesn't, doesn't. Psychologists understand this. Popular websites often don't.

Read symptom #2: "The fantasies, sexual urges or behaviors cause significant distress or impair social, occupational or personal functioning."

Which is what I was referring to in my earlier post. It is not saying that every foot fetishist is depressed or pathological. If it doesn't cause disruption in your life then it is not a disorder.

It's a cyclical topic. Comes up over and over.
Interest in tickling that goes "too far" is a paraphilia.

It's not a fetish. Fetishes are object-based. A foot, instead of the owner, or a shoe, or pantyhose, regardless of who wears there.

The DSM-IV covers this in detail, is the book used by psychiatrists in such diagnosis, and like that article says, you have to have something going awry to have this diagnosed as a problem.

Otherwise, it's just an interest.

If this causes no problems for you, it's just an interest.

If you really are curious, or in self-doubt, ask a shrink AFTER you agree to pay for the session. Then it's professionally assessed and private.
