Let me first say THANK YOU to the football gods, who have taken away the Dallas Cowboys and the New England Patriots from the playoffs.

It is SOOOOOOOO good to see some new blood in the playoffs this year.

Congrats to the Panthers, Falcons, Cardinals, Eagles, Dolphins and Titans for giving us something different this year.

New England, wait for Brady....though I heard his injuries are healing slower than normal, and he may have to have ANOTHER surgery.

Dallas.....giving away all those picks for Roy Williams does not look so hot now. Jerry Jones, you reap what you sow. Now then I'm not a "Cowboys Hater", but they never looked like a team this year. Romo, learn how to win in December or never change your calendar after Thanksgiving.

I'm waiting for a GREAT PLAYOFFS!!

Rob

I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Eagles demolish the Cowboys.

I was hoping for Blitzburgh-Dallas...

Alas, Dallas quit on themselves.

I'm actually PO'ed that the Pats are out.

They deserve to be in instead of the Chargers/Broncos crapfest 'winner', without a doubt.

Plus, as a Steelers fan, I want to beat the AFC Champs when it counts.

'To be the best, you have to beat the best.'

Guess that won't happen this year...

We can do without the Romowensimpson drama.

Im disappointed with the Pats not making it, when less deserving teams like minnesota, arizona and either denver or san diego make it. :eeew:

Hey! Beating the Giants to get in and win our division was not "less deserving". Bucking the trend of recent years, Minnesota actually won a game they had to in order to win outright rather than backing in or missing it altogether.

At 10-6, the Vikes remind me an awful lot of the Giants last year. No one giving them a chance, everyone loking past them and saying there was no way they could beat three teams to get there. Then, they knock off the undefeated Pats....and everyone goes "See? Told you they were good!"

I'm riding this purple train until it derails.

And before it's said...the Giants did not "lay down" in that game. Tom Coughlin came out and said the Giants would not play the Vikes soft and wanted to go into the playoffs with a win and sharp players. Antonio Pierce said right before the game that there was "time to rest next week during the bye". So, I hope that now that they lost to Minnesota, it isn't suddenly "Oh, we were resting."

This should be a very interesting playoffs.

no such thing as less deserving record doesnt matter the pats know the playoff format.. win your division or be suseptible to not getting in especially in the afc.. i hate when fans say the playoff format sux when their team doesnt get in.. the teams who got in deserve to be there and the pats dont

You see this is why I never do preseason Super Bowl predictions...

I was convinced more than anything that it was Cowboys vs. Patriots, the match-up the world wanted to see. Brady vs. Romo, Owens vs. Moss, two teams on a mission to right the wrongs of last year.

Then Brady goes down with a knee injury and the Cowboys decide that they really didnt want to make the playoffs this year. Next year, Im saying half the league is going undefeated, while the other half goes winless, that why if I miss, no big deal.

I never thought I'd say this, but I am embarressed this season to be a Cowboys fans, more stuff going on off the field than on, that idiot Pacman Jones does nothing but live up to his rep, losing the final game in Texas Stadium ever, and then the topper and a perfect way to end this season, going to Philadelphia and just giving up to go 9-7 fro the supposed most talented team in the NFL.

Im not complaining about the format. i accept the system the way it is. but it still sucks when lame teams make the playoffs.

That's just not true.

Pats won 11 games. That's 3 more than the Chargers. And more than 3 teams in the NFC who are 'still alive'.

I am in full agreement.

No way should a 11-5 team sit at home during January while an 8-8 team lives on. :sowrong:

Format schmormat.

The best 6 teams should get in the playoffs from each conference.

like i said the format has always been the same.. and like i said they knew win your division or hope... they went with hope and lost.. every division has a down year that doesnt mean that the winner of the division doesnt deserve to be in.. winning your division is an accomplishment wether it took 12 wins or 8.. and div winners deserve to be in

Based on what?

And remember up until 6 years ago there were only 3 divisions, meaning only 3 'guaranteed' spots.

Expansion forced the 4th division and has diluted the W-L totals.

IMO, an 11-5 team deserves to be in over an 8-8 team (and even a 9-7 team). No question.

Wins and Losses mean more than winning a division. It's the perfect barometer.

based on the fact they won their division ..if they changed it and someone won their division ala the chargers and didnt get in becasue the pats had a better record the chargers would cause an uproar.. i think its good as it is although the team with the better record should get the home game in the playoffs ..

So if a team went 6-10 and won their division they should make the playoffs?

i think its good as it is although the team with the better record should get the home game in the playoffs ..

How is that much different than letting the team with the better record in the playoffs instead of the division winner?

Again, Wins and Losses are the ultimate barometer.

It already decides Draft Position 1-20, why shouldn't it decide playoff participants?

yeah they should... and its different in the playoffs because its by seeding i think the division winners should automatically get in but not nessecairly get a better seed than a wild card team who has a better record
