Do you think the ticklish feeling itself is the same feeling for everyone? I don't mean the intensity of the feeling, but feeling itself?

Is touch interpreted the same for every human. Is the color blue to you the same blue another person sees?

....oh boy, I think I twisted my brain into a pretzel with this one... :runningdog:

I will say that this is the main reason why some users here think clips are fake when in fact they are not. Some don't realize that there are multiple ways others respond to tickling. This I see would explain many 80% of the fake calls that are wrong levied at producers. So many things factor in, comfort level being among the top. So yeah, I think it is safe to say the sensation is different for everyone.

Thanks,
K

True. But i wasn't referring to an individual's reaction. If 2 people have different reactions to be tickled, are they reacting to the same sensation. Is that sensation the same feeling between the two?

no way of telling really, altho maybe thats why some people hate it, maybe they dont feel the same thing we feel

I don't think so at all, I reckon different people feel it totally differently. Although I'm with you on the colours thing!

I don't think so. Some people who hate being tickled tend to perceive it more as something painful and unpleasant.

I will admit that I have thought about that exact question throughout my life. Particularly in regards to the color question. I am glad that I am not alone in my own pondering. lol

Well, in my case, when it comes to colors, the colors I see are like 20% less bright and a bit off. Like a navy blue could appear black to me until I looked at it up close, for example. I was born with it, so I assume everyone's eyes are a bit different.

I would assume not everyone feels the same thing, as well... some are more ticklish, some are less, and while the same as eyes in that the basics are gonna be the same, there's always gonna be a difference between every person in some way.

So I would say that not everyone experiences ticklish sensation in the same way. You weren't asking about reactions, but I would say that different reactions between two people would kinda be a signal that they're not feeling it the same thing.

Hello,

Damn, I am not deep at all lol. Sorry for misconstruing the point of this thread. Great question, just wanted to apologize for my ignorance.

Thanks,
K

I'll invoke the nature v nurture theme. As far as reactions to tickling go, a person has their individual given level(s) of sensitivity (neurological) across various body parts. Any given person will not feel the tickling sensation as then same on different parts of their own body. The nurture aspect of exposure to "tickle torture" or playfull tickling or skilled tickling, or perhaps little to no tickling will also impact the feel. I have seen this discused at least in passing in other threads. My question is whether two people will feel pain the same way. Studies have been done to assess pain threshholds. I would say there is variation as to how touches are perceived, based on both nature and nurture.

I think that we all feel it differently and therefore that is why we all react differently. It's like anything else in life. We all interpret things in general and feel them differently so why not tickling too.

I feel the sensation differently on different parts of my body - and not just intensity, as in some spots are more ticklish than others - the feeling itself is different, so I'm sure that it's different for different people.

Definitely makes sense and is 100% true as there are different types of touch receptors in different parts of the skin that perceive different types of sensations. Neurobiology has taught me A LOT about tickling apparently lol
