'Some Like it Hot' missed tickling opportunities

So if you haven't seen it, Some Like it Hot is one of the funniest movies of all time. There is a major missed tickling opportunity missed on the train scene with about a dozen bare feet of some really hot women including Marilyn Monroe!!

Omg it kills me every time I see it! The ironic thing is, the girls gang tickle Jack Lemmon instead! Those of you who have seen it know how great the scene is just before Jack gets it. I bring this up because its currently airing on TCM and that scene was just on.

Considering that SOME LIKE IT HOT is unquestionably on a short list of the greatest American sound comedies, I think that we can forgive Maestro Billy Wilder and his estimable collaborator Izzy Diamond for not doing what us foot tickling connoisseurs were panting for in that scene: Sweet Sue breaking up that upper berth speakeasy by tickling the unwarily exposed soles of her tipsy All-Girl (Well...practically!) Society Syncopators. ("Bienstock!") <p> The film as it exists is so beautifully constructed from its opening "leaky hearse" chase to its peerless, perfectly realized closing line that the five minutes of foot tickling action that we crave would have derailed the picture long before Tony Curtis had a chance to woo Marilyn a la Cary Grant--betrayed only by his stiff, rising leg. <p>
This should not, however, prevent a cinema-savvy sort like C.A.B. from depicting such a scene unseen for us in his inimitable fashion. 😉

You are absolutely right on the money with this. I might add that the great Billy Wilder did provide us with some nice foot tickling of Kim Novak by Dean Martin in the classic film Kiss me Stupid. Which is why I was so disappointed in the missed opportunity in this fine film. I mean, couldn't Tony Curtis have cleared that area pretty quick with some scrabbling on a sexy sole or two?

That being said, I still love the movie!
