As far as vocal performances go,I'd say:

John Lennon singing "A Day in the Life"
David Gilmour singing "Wish You Were Here"
Peter Gabriel singing "Here comes the Flood"

I think the title is "Kissed by(from) a Rose" by Seal

it's a great song, but it's hard to sit through.

over and over. nelly and tim mcgraw..i had to choke back the tears..

Cause its all in my head
I think about it over and over again
And I can’t keep picturing you with him
And it hurts so bad, yeah
Cause it’s on in my head
I think about it over and over again
I replay it over and over again
And I can’t take it yeah I can’t shake it
Nooo

I can’t wait to see you
Want to see if you still got that look in your eyes
That one you had for me before we said our goodbyes
And it’s a shame that we got to spend our time
Being mad about the same things
Over and over again
About the same things
Over and over again
Ohh
But I think she’s leaving
Ooh man she’s leaving
I don’t know what else to do
(I Can’t go on not loving you)

thats just the first two parts of the song

Tim McGraw-Red Ragtop
Travis Tritt-Anymore
Linkin Park-My December
Puddle of Mud-Take it all Away

Dream Theater - Waiting for Sleep

Linkin Park - Breaking the Habit

Staind - All thier songs

Gackt - Lust for blood

Shinhwa - Deep Sorrow

BOA - Duvet

Do as infinity - Inuyasha 2nd ending theme

Eric Clapton ----------------------My Father's Eyes

Luther Vandross ------------------Dance With My Father

Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods --Billy Don't Be A Hero

Michael Murphey -----------------Wildfire

Harry Chapan --------------------Cats In The Cradle

Burl Ives - -----------------------Little White Duck (My favorite song at 4 years old)

John Lennon ---------------------In My Life

I guess I'm just a big baby deep down. 😱

Evanescence - My Immortal

Terry Jacks - Seasons in the Sun (At least when I first heard it two decades ago, now I find it rather silly)

Peter Gabriel - Here Comes The Flood and Don't Give Up

W.A.S.P. - Forever Free

Annie Lennox - Into The West

Don McLean's "American Pie" ~ Not only because it is said to be about the deaths of of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J. P. Richardson (The Big Bopper) in a plane crash, but because it also brings back a lot of memories.

The most recent ones I can remember are:

Dave Brubecks The City is Crying just a few times when I was just in the perfect mood for that music...

A Perfect Circle Blue. This song is great, but doesn't normally have that much effect on me... however, when I saw them in concert, I tried as hard as I could to sing along with the chorus but no words would come out at all... I was paralized.

Sevendust Angel Song, once again... I never took that much notice of the song, but I saw the video clip the other day and emotional aspect of it became huge.

Other songs like a few from The Mars Volta and Dream Theater can have an impact on me, but only when the musics up loud and I get to belt it out myself.

Imagine - John Lennon (What potential we have as a race.)

Unchained Melody - Righteous Brothers (Makes me think of Ghost.)

Neverending Story - Limahl (Just a great song about the nature of existence. If I die young, I want this song played at my funeral as they carry the coffin out.)

Stand By Me - Ben E. King (True devotion to someone else.)

EVANESCENCE

Evanescence - bring me to life

how can you see into my eyes like open doors
leading you down into my core
where i've become so numb without a soul my spirit sleeping somewhere cold
until you find it there and lead it back home wake me up inside
wake me up inside
call my name and save me from the dark
bid my blood to run
before i come undone
save me from the nothing i've become

now that i know what i'm without
you can't just leave me
breathe into me and make me real
bring me to life

wake me up inside
wake me up inside
call my name and save me from the dark
bid my blood to run
before i come undone
save me from the nothing i've become
bring me to life

frozen inside without your touch without your love darling only you are the life among the dead

Brings back a lot of memories for me about someone who brought me to life. Just when I needed it.

AIN'T NO SUNSHINE WHEN SHE'S GONE

Bill Withers

Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
It's not warm when she's away
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
And she's always gone too long anytime
She goes away

Wonder this time where she's gone
Wonder if she's gone to stay
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
And this house just ain't a home
Anytime she goes away

And I know, I know, I know, I know, I know
I know, I know, I know, I know, I know
I know, I know, I know, I know, I know
I know, I know I know, I know, I know

Hey I'll leave the young thing alone
But ain't no sunshine when she's gone
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
Only darkness everyday

Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
And this house just ain't no home
Anytime she goes away
Anytime she goes away
Anytime she goes away
Anytime she goes away

When a certain someone sang this it broke my heart, then he broke my heart. Now when I hear it, it still makes me cry! :dropatear

Still miss you but glad we are still friends FT!

I have to be in a really sad mood for a song to make me cry, but for me only 2 have managed it.

My Immortal by Evanescence - It reminds me of people who have now gone from my life, but I still see them, just we don't speak or anything, and I feel really bad about it. I sang it as coursework last year and I felt like crying after I recorded it.

and

Bedshaped by Keane - This was the only song that managed to make me cry after me and my bf (the one who I told you about in the "Testing The Waters" thread) broke up. It'll be a month to the day next week. Bedshaped made me cry because it's all about messed up relationships and it just made me feel bad because I felt like I was dragging him down and I wasn't as smart as him, (The main words that set me off were "I know you think I'm holding you down,
And I've fallen by the wayside now.
And I don't understand the same things as you,
but I do." That was actually the truth of what was going on), so he found my taste in conversations meaningless (he thinks I'm too musical for my own good, well for me it's better than talking about his 3 fav subjects, science, religion and politics:zzzzz: ) However, by the end of the song I felt better because it gave me hope that I can go on and do things without him. We're still friends to this day, just we don't talk very much anymore, even though we hang around with the same people in college (there's about 11 of us who are together and lunch and break, and we just have fun). If I do Bedshaped for my music coursework this year, I hope he's there to hear me sing it, so then he'll know how I felt on that day, and I hope he feels just as bad, either that or he actually compliments me for my singing (which he never did in the relationship, he only complimented my looks).

Sorry if that seemed like a rant, but I think I needed it because I never had the chance to do that on that day.

Kenny Rogers Through The Years

It brings back memories when my parents danced at parties and now that my dad is gone it makes me feel for my mom ..

NINE INCH NAILS

"Something I Can Never Have"

I still recall the taste of your tears.
Echoing your voice just like the ringing in my ears.
My favorite dreams of you still wash ashore.
Scraping through my head 'till I don't want to sleep anymore.

[Chorus:]
Come on tell me.
You make this all go away.
You make this all go away.
I'm down to just one thing.
And I'm starting to scare myself.
You make this all go way.
You make this all go way.
I just want something.
I just want something I can never have

You always were the one to show me how
Back then I couldn't do the things that I can do now.
This thing is slowly taking me apart.
Grey would be the color if I had a heart.
Come on tell me

[Chorus]

In this place it seems like such a shame.
Though it all looks different now,
I know it's still the same
Everywhere I look you're all I see.
Just a fading fucking reminder of who I used to be.

[Chorus]

I just want something.
I just want something I can never have
I just want something I can never have

Think I know what you meant.
That night on my bed.
Still picking at this scab
I wish you were dead.
You sweat and perry ellis.
Just stains on my sheets.

My best friend Ray and I, since Jr. High, had always wanted to be a couple but either I had a boyfriend or he had a girlfriend. So we never became a couple. Then I got married and well...This was our song at the time because we wanted something we thought we could never have, each other. Now 25 years later we are still best friends and the song still makes me cry because you can have what you thought you could never have! It might just take 25 years of friendship, love, and patience and then happiness will come to you.

When I originally posted my reply, I was thinking of pop tunes or rock songs you'd hear on the radio, never thinking of all music in general.

Opening weekend of the NFL brought up another ditty that gets to me...The Star Spangled Banner. Every time I hear it (especially with the tributes that are flying all over the place these days), I get choked up. Musically speaking, the very melody is triumphant and hopeful. But what really gets to me is seeing two teams that are about to knock the living shit out of each other standing up for the same common inspiration...90,000 fans forgetting who they're rooting for for 90 seconds...and millions of people remembering, if only briefly, why we can enjoy such things.

Gets me every time.

😎

Ray Charles' version of "America The Beautiful" knocks me out every time, especially now that he's passed away.

A real Oldie that gets me every time ...

"Oh Danny Boy ... the pipes, the pipes are calling ..."

Obscure, but good

There's a line in the Danielle Howle song "The Parlor" that breaks my heart every time:

and if there's no one here to rock me
well I guess I'll do it myself
