Songs that can move you to tears

well my boyfriend left me not too long ago so anything sad or about love in any way,i cant handle and if i had to listen to it. it would definatly bring me to tears

If I'm in a really down mood then absolutely anything can set me off. But,the one song that never fails to get me evey time is 'Boys of Summer' by Don Henley. It fits a certain period in my life better than just about any song I've ever heard.

DISCO DUCK....THAT SONG SHOULD MAKE EVERYONE CRY !!!

Sam Cooke - You Send Me

Darling you send me. I know you send me
Honest you do
You thrill me, I know you thrill me
Darling you thrill me
Honest you do
Honest you do
Honest you do

At first I thought it was infatuation
But it lasted so long
Now I find myself wanting
to marry you and take you home

You Send Me
Honest you do

Whenever I'm with you
Whenever I'm near you
Honest you do
I know when you hold me,
whenever you kiss me

:dropatearThis song was sang to me and met so much to me about a year ago and always made me smile and my heart flutter. Then he broke my heart. Twice! I can't even hear it anymore. I automatically burst into tears. Sometimes memories suck! Remember the song F? I will never forget it.:dropatear

Giggles, Sam Cooke is one of my favorites. His song, "A Change Is Gonna Come", was one of his very last recordings before he was shot to death at a hotel. I hope I get the lyrics right:

"A Change Is Gonna Come", by Sam Cooke

I was born by the river in a little tent
Oh, and just like the river I've been runnin' ever since
It's been a long, a long time coming but I know,
a change gonna come, oh, yes it will

It's been too hard a livin' but I'm afraid to die
'cause I don't know what's up there beyond the sky
It's been a long , a long time coming but I know,
a change gonna come, oh, yes it will

I go to the movie and I go downtown,
somebody keep tellin' me don't hang around
It's been a long, a long time coming but I know,
a change gonna come, oh, yes it will

Then I go to my brother, and I say brother, help me please
but he winds up knockin' me back down on my knees,
Oh

There've been times that I thought I couldn't last for long,
but now I think I'm able to carry on
It's been a long, a long time coming but I know,
a change gonna come, oh, yes it will

Tim McGraw "Don't Take The Girl"

Johnny’s daddy was taking him fishin’
When he was eight years old
A little girl came through the front gate holdin’ a fishing pole
His dad looked down and smiled, said we can’t leave her behind
Son I know you don’t want her to go but someday you’ll change your mind
And johnny said take jimmy johnson, take tommy thompson, take my best friend bo
Take anybody that you want as long as she don’t go
Take any boy in the world
Daddy please don’t take the girl

Same old boy
Same sweet girl
Ten years down the road
He held her tight and kissed her lips
In front of the picture show
Stranger came and pulled a gun
Grabbed her by the arm said if you do what I tell you to, there won’t be any harm
And johnny said take my money, take my wallet, take my credit cards
Here’s the watch that my grandpa gave me
Here’s the key to my car
Mister give it a whirl
But please don’t take the girl

Same old boy
Same sweet girl
Five years down the road
There’s going to be a little one and she says it’s time to go
Doctor says the baby’s fine but you’ll have to leave
’cause his momma’s fading fast and johnny hit his knees and there he prayed
Take the very breath you gave me
Take the heart from my chest
I’ll gladly take her place if you’ll let me
Make this my last request
Take me out of this world
God, please don’t take the girl

Johnny’s daddy
Was taking him fishin’
When he was eight years old

I think the words say it all....

Tim McGraw "My Best Friend"( this was MY OWN best friend's wedding song)

"Evanescence" My Immortal- esp the last line.. "You still have all of Me"

An Old Scottish/Irish folksong called "Red Is the Rose" which my grandmother used to sing to me when I was a little lass.

Again "Amazing Grace" On the pipes...

And even tho I am a pagan the hymns "On Eagles Wings" and "I Am The Bread of Life" which were played @ my grandmother's funeral in 95...

Alison Krause "When You Say Nothing At All".. just one of the deepest songs of love and trust I've heard

Neverending Story - Limahl (Just a great song about the nature of existence. If I die young, I want this song played at my funeral as they carry the coffin out.)

Turn around,
Look at what you see,
In her face,
The mirror of your dreams,

Make believe I'm everywhere,
Given In The Lines,
Written on the pages,
Is the answer to a neverending story,
(aaah,aaah,aaah)

Reach the stars,
Fly a fantasy,
Dream a dream,
And what you see will be,

CHORUS:

Rhymes that keep their secrets,
Will unfold behind the clouds,
And there upon the rainbow,
Is the answer to a neverending story,
(aaah,aaah,aaah)

Story...
(aaah,aaah,aaah)

Show no fear,
For she may fade away,
In your hands,
The birth of a new day,

CHORUSx1

Neverending story...(aaah,aaah,aaah) x 4 to fade

I don't know why but man, "Who Wants To Live Forever" by Queen... every since I saw "Highlander"...

BigJim, I love Limahl and the song The Neverending Story! Nice to here someone else does too.

Nice to hear. :twohugs:

I'd have changed a couple of the words to more suit me. Not much though.😉

Frank Sinatra songs always make me cry because they remind me of my Daddy. :dropatear

This is gonna sound wierd, but when i was younger i played an incredible game called "Xenogears". This game, had some lovly music, and the one song they play through out it, and finally play with voice at the end, is called "Small two of pieces" if i remember right. That song always brough a tear to my eye. And some advice, if you can get that game and play it, do. It's simply lovely and the story is amazing. Arguably, it's one of the greatest RPG's to ever grace this world.

Xenogears Ending Theme
"Small Two of Pieces"

Run through the cold of the night
As passion burns in your heart
Ready to fight, a knife held close by your side
Like a proud wolf alone in the dark
With eyes that watch the world
And my name like a shadow on the face of the moon

Broken mirror, a million shades of light
The old echo fades away
But just you and I
Can find the answer. And then,
We can run to the end of the world
We can run to the end of the world

Cold fire clenched to my heart
In the blue of night
Torn by this pain, I paint your name in sound
And the girl of the dawn
With eyes of blue, and angel wings
The songs of the season are her only crown

Broken mirror, a million shades of light
The old echo fades away
But just you and I
Can find the answer. And then,
We can run to the end of the world
We can run to the end of the world

We met in the mist of morning
And parted deep in the night
Broken sword and shield, and tears that never fall
But run through the heart
Washed away by the darkest water
The world is peaceful and still

Broken mirror, a million shades of light
The old echo fades away
But just you and I
Can find the answer. And then,
We can run to the end of the world
We can run to the end of the world
Run to the end of the world...

Landslide By Stevie Nicks, because I can so relate to the changes and growing up and apart the song describes.

My b/f recently got me into Queen and there is a song Freddie Mercury does called "Too Much Love Will Kll You" that moves me to tears everytime. This particular version was sung in Freddie's final days and you can hear the raw agoney and emotion in his voice...his giving it all because he had so little time left.

Another Queen song "Who Wants To Live Forever"...

Ghostie

'Send in the Clowns', Judy Collins or Sinatra version.

'Neverending Story'--good choice and trip down memory lane as well!

Nelly's New song with Tim McGraw too, its sad. cause it reminds me of the girl i still love that i am no longer with..its called over and over again.

Over and Over Again..Nelly feat Tim McGraw

Cause its all in my head
I think about it, over and over again
And I can’t keep picturing, you with him
And it hurts so bad, yeah
Cause it’s all in my head
I think about it, over and over again
I replay it, over and over again
And I can’t take it, yeah I can’t shake it
Nooo

I can’t wait to see you,
Want to see if you still got that look in your eyes
That one you had for me before we said, our goodbyes
And it’s a shame, that we got to spend our time
Being mad, about the same things
Over and over again
About the same things
Over and over again
Ohh
But I think she’s leaving
Ooh man she’s leaving
I don’t know what else to do
(I Can’t go on, not loving you)
this is part of the song..not all of it.

Esp the part @ the end when the girl is dying giving birth to his child.. One time my friend was singing that @ Karaoke and I literally burst into tears right there, and I was not the only one

Blues Travelers

"The Mountains Win Again" beacause it reminds me of my ex bf back in the states, who was my first "serious" relationship, and what could have been between us

"When The Tigers Broke Free" by Pink Floyd

Good one, man 🙂 Also, Gypsy by Fleetwood Mac. Don't know why, but I love that song 🙂

Tears in Heaven - Eric Clapton (this song and its backstory are so sad that I bet it would even leave Morrissey speechless)

Famous Last Words - Tears for Fears (a song involving two lovers that share a final moment before nuclear holocaust)

I Will Remember You - Sarah McLachlan (the perfect break up song)

The Last Song - Elton John (a song from the point of view of an AIDS victim dwindling away and saying his last goodbye to his father)

Most of the Time - Bob Dylan (a song that is hauntingly sad mostly due to Dylan's touching vocals and eminently morose lyrics)

Mess - Ben Folds Five (a song about a man who's lost faith in God and love and must confront the rest of his life knowing he loves a woman that will never love him)

It Can't Rain All the Time - Jane Siberry (Jane truly sounds like she's at the verge of crying in this song)
