Speculation on the third Batman movie....

This is all just fans running wild and picking their favs after TDK. Chris Nolan himself isn't even attached to a third one yet. I'm sure he'll do it but no one's officially being tapped for any roles. There isn't even a script.

I heard the Riddler was to be played by Johnny Depp.

I'd actually prefer Depp as The Riddler.

Despite a remark that Robert Downey Jr. made about The Dark Knight and DC Comics, I could see him warming up to replacing Ledger as the Joker, and I think he could actually pull it off. Other people have been mentioning James Franco because of how similar he looks to Ledger.

Jolie would be a decent Catwoman.

Hoffman would be a good Penguin.

As for Two Face, I really like Aaron Eckhart. I'd love to see him return, but I can easily see why they wouldn't want to bring him back. It would kind of take away from the ending's sentiment.

I hope Two-face is dead, otherwise... lame, just lame (although his quick origin and death in TDK was also somewhat lame).

And I think they could incorporate some 'minor' villains like Scarecrow, Bane or Clay Face very easily.

Actually, Two-Face coming back wouldn't be too lame. After all, there's been tons of times Batman villans have "died", only to return again .


Clayface would be difficult if they want to keep the movies realistic. Lock-Up would be an okay minor villan, maybe.. (or maybe KGBeast?...I dunno.)

What about Scarface and the Ventriloquist for minor villans? They could kinda be creepy if written well, I'd think.

Or a decent Talia, if they ever decide to use Ra's Al Ghul again. Or hell, even if they DON'T use him again.

Ra's daughter is more than capable of running the League of Shadows (or League of Assassins --whichever it was called in "Begins") on her own. (although if they decide to use the League again, it'd be a long time from now, I bet. )

Angelina Jolie as Catwoman? Yuck. She looks 10 years older than Christian Bale. So I really doubt it.

Chris Nolan has also been quoted saying something along the lines of, "No other actor will play Joker as long as I'm attached to the movie". Chris Nolan has also said he isn't interested in Catwoman or Robin in future films. So the future of these characters is probably based solely on whether or not he writes/directs. Honestly... if someone else does a third film, and not Mr. Nolan, it won't be the same.

Angelina Jolie is SO overused. I am a fan of Catwoman, but I would not go to a movie with Jolie in the role. Hell, I still haven't gotten around to seeing Halle Berry in the role either!

All I have left to say is that if they ruin the 3rd Batman movie (if and when it comes out) like they did the Spider-man 'trilogy', 'Batman and Robin', the last two Matrix's or the Star Wars 'prequels' I may avoid comic book/sci-fi/action movies forever.

Seriously, we have enough worthless and crappy big budget movies (many which I didn't name) and we don't need more.

Come through for me again Nolan! I'm begging you!

If they bring riddler, i say hugo weaving

He has shown in v for vendetta he has the proper voice and speaking speeds to be able to ramble off riddles and sentences to no end, that movie plus matrix shows he can pull off action scenes

If they WOULD bring in robin, they could do an awesome bane\similar to knightfall storyline.

They dont even really need to establish other main villians. Just have bane break people out of arkham(similar to batman begins) and have batman fighting constantly to bring them back. Just have a bunch of psychopaths and murderers.(i recall one from knightfall, a murderer who cut himself for every person he killed)
With fox, you can make him into azrael\cyber suit batman if you want to have bane break batman.

As for who'd play bane, for a sec i thought they were retconning and gonna make tiny lister(zeus\prisoner who threw out the detonator) as the future bane since it was odd how they made him a minor char of importance.

I also have no problem with them having someone else as Joker. You will have so many people watching ledgers role and impersonating that you will get someone who can act as ledger who acted as joker. Wont be perfect but it could be fitting.

THANK YOU! I was beginning to think I was crazy, as I have yet to find anyone else who agrees with me on this one. But yeah, I totally thought that the first time I watched the movie. Actually, there was a part (can't remember specifically where) in the interrogation scene where I could have almost sworn it WAS Johnny Depp, lol... And I noticed it both times I watched the film. Heath did some kind of facial expression or said something that was very Johnny Deppish... I really can't remember what though... But yeah, I'd say he's the best bet!

The murderer who cuts himself was ALREADY in Batman Begins, in a cameo role. His name is Mr. Zsasz (Victor Zsasz), and he was played by Tim Booth.

Weaving is an excellent idea for Riddler, actually. I never thought about him.

See this kind of annoys me... I mean here we have the actor saying "Hey man, I'm up for another film since the full irony of my character didn't quite get played out all the way (ok so maybe that was an exaggeration, lol)" and then Nolan says "No! Your character is dead!" I almost think Nolan could and might change his mind... But, then I'm reminded of what happened when Raimi "changed his mind" about putting Venom in the film and.... Well, you get the picture...

I guess if Nolan truly doesn't want Two-Face in the next picture, we best leave it at that or the third one will probably suck ass... Sad, though, because wasn't two-face supposed to become like a huge mobster, which would be ironic since he put so many of them in jail? I'd like to see that played out... But, whatever...
