Censorship in any form has always baffled me.

I watched the Stooges short "Three Loan Wolves" on AntennaTV last night. They cut out the part where the little boy slaps the Stooges across the faces; I can only assume because they don't want kids imitating it. And yet, they left in Moe's highly offensive Japanese stereotype.

I've read this before and I'm fully convinced it's nothing but the product of an overactive imagination. Not appearing to be exactly anorexic, the only "bulge" I've seen "in his pants" in that scene appears to be nothing more than his gut. But it makes a good story for some, apparently.

Exactly why they censor this particular scene, only the censors themselves may know for sure, but it's entirely possible that it's for no more mysterious reason than to shorten the short, as it were, to allow more time for commercials. At any rate, I seriously doubt it has anything to do with this alleged (and entirely imaginary) "bulge."

There were a few clips in the stooges of women getting tickled. One was when Mo tried to light a match and he did it on the bottom of a woman's foot and she flinched, well really no laughing. Another was a dog licking a french woman's leg when i think she was with Shemp in France and the last was a hercules spoof when a woman is getting massaged and she flinches as if she is ticklish. Does anyone remember these ? There was no hardcore foot or rib tickling with women, I guess because it was too sexual. Although, we've seen clips of women from the 30's, 40's and 50's get tickled on feet and ribs too.

The scene from Hugs 'n Mugs is a lot shorter than that from Way Out West, but I much prefer Nanette Bordeaux's style as a 'ler. The evil glee when she realizes the power she holds over Shemp: "Ooh, you cannot stand to be tickle, eh?"
