Went to see the film last night (opening night) and was truely thrilled with what i saw 🙂

Palpatine/Sidious was brilliant, a top class film which bound the saga nicely.

A few points though, i thought the film should have been longer as it felt as though it was a tad rushed at the end just to tie up the loose bits.

Did Sidious create Anakin using the midi-chloreins (spelling?) after he learnt how to from his old master Darth Plagieus?

And if Obi-Wan took Luke to Owen and Beru then why in Episode 4 does Owen tell Luke to stay away from Obi-Wan?

Tell me what you thought of the film people and have a crack at answering the questions if you know the answers 🙂

Almost forgot aswell, gutted you only got to see Vadar in the suit for about 30 seconds and the James Earl Jones had about 2 lines to say!

Saw it this morning...it was very well done.

Won't ruin it for anyone...Lucas did not shy away from the dark subject matter, rather the film embraced it and really was the better for it.

All in all I would say it was the best one in the series besides The Empire Strikes Back.

absolutly loved the movie. didnt like how they made Mace though. In my opinion they didnt give him the respect and image he deserved. i mean i saw clone wars(on cartoon network) and Mace was a total basass. i was expecting a huge fight between Mace and Palpatine but it never happened like i thought it would. Also to answeryour second question, i thin Owen didnt want Luke to hang around Obi-Wan because he thoguht that he would probably try to train Luke. most likely he thought that Luke would be killed.
but in my opinion the best one was empire strikes back

Hell Yeah!

THAT MOVIE ROCKED!!!

That movie rocked so hard it sucked all the rock out of the other sucky movies out there! Finally...f***in finally a new Star Wars movie that lived up to it's hype! Man, i went all out for this one too. I went to the 12:01 am showing Wednesday night, I was in full costume (kind of my take on a Jedi which was kind of a heavy metal/dark Anakin look), had 2 light sabers (I won 2 lightsaber duels as well), and got like 25 pictures taken of me. Serously, my jedi costume looked so good they thought I was hired by the theater or something (I spent way too much time and money on that thing). Anyway, I was surrounded by about 3000 fans, got to talk to a lot of cool people, and got to see a group of rather loud and obnoxious trekkies (yes, there were trekkies there for some reason) get pummled by the plastic toys of a swarm of irritated Wars fans. All in all, a good night (with the exception of being subjected to the sight of numerous dangerously overweight rednecks dressed as Darth Vader).

I hate to be the lone decenter here, but i have to admit that i left the theater feeling as though there was a great deal that was left out.

I think that these were probably the best Saber fights that I have ever seen, but as Bored said, the entire thing felt like it was rushed. The DuKoo fight happened in like 10 seconds. I don't even remember him having a line. I think that Skywalkers lines and deliveries were not acted as well as possible, and Padmais lines went the same downward direction.

I think that i wanted to see a little bit more involved seduction of Skywalker to the Darkside, and more of an emotional ride than just to see the suit put on. to tell you the truth i think that the all black look and the scare are actually better than the mask and cape, but that's jsut me.

all in all it was good, but it felt like a 3-1/2 hour long movie crammed for some reason. I would rather have been up till 4:00 am and fully engaged by the film, than out of the theater at 2:30 feeling unforfilled

Nothing wrong with a dissenting opinion dude, that's what these message boards are all about. You like what you like, you dislike what you dislike. It's all about the free flow of ideas. Just cuz an idea is not shared by the majority does not reduce or decrease it's validity. You have a position and presented it clearly, nothing wrong with that.

I think there should be two threads. One for general discussion of this movie so that all can read it and rejoice (or not) and another thread for the likes of us who are detailed orriented with which natural spoilers would be abbound in order to actual discuss any of it.

I'll create it. But be warned, it will have spoilers in it (and I will label it as such). I see alot of people asking questions even after the movie is over, and I'd be glad to try and answer the questions there if I can.

As for this thread, I'll simply say the movie delivered in not only the areas it should have, but in ways we didn't expect either. As such I actually left the movie theater feeling sad and depressed. This movie made a great impact and I'm still trying to sort out the images in my head and the dialogue.

This movie is very straight-forward and strikes a cord. There were moments it was a very disturbing movie and even some moments it felt uncomfortable to watch since I felt as if I was there with them. It was all so lucid and real and the Star Wars series is all the more richer for it. Remember folks, this is the end of the Anakin Skywalker saga only. It is NOT the end of the series. We've got nothing but great things to look forward to.

It was Superb! And at the end...........

Opps, I won't go there! I may spoil it for others! xD

But yeah! Great film! I loved the effects and Yoda...Well he just kicks ass! :tounge:

Owen did not want luke to become like his father, Obi wan probably told them the whole story, and comeon, with what anakin did, he didnt want luke to be anything like that, which is also why luke did not learn of his father really till he met obi wan

What i didnt like is it seemed rushed the whole movie, too much skipping to scenes to fill in gaps, like after the first battle scene, yer in the jedi temple, then palpatines, then like back to jedi council again....just do a friggin long shot

Wow... after reading all that, and the other thread that Vdracula started, I'm going to sound like an extremely negative person lol... but what the hell, *someone* on here might agree with me heh. I felt it was the worst directed of the lot. It was nearly two and a half hours of flashy cinematics and lightsabers wacking each other, and some of the worst dialogue known to man. And Natalie portman is possibly the worst thing that ever happened to George Lucas.
SPOILERS: DO NOT READ ON IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE.

Highlights, in my mind at least, were:
The first scene was brilliant, where Anakin and Obi wan were flying through the battle in space... brilliantly directed. And of course, the guy who played palpatine (can't remember his name lol, sorry) was absolutely *superb*. He almost rescued the movie single handedly. Also, Ewan Mcgregor did very well with the limited material he had to work with from Lucas. The scene where the clones turned on all the Jedi was one of the only ones which did actually get to me a bit, i must admit lol. This was partly due of course to John Williams' brilliant score.
Downpoints were:
The repetitive nature of much of the film. I mean lightsabers flying around constantly is only superficially entertaining, and even then it only works up to a point. It was worse than the constant, droning martial arts scenes in the Matrix movies. And the end was *abysmal*. A death scene can make or break a movie, and in this case, it was certainly the latter. Portman's terrible perfomance, coupled with the cruminess of the script - "There's no medical reason for it... she's lost the will to live" ... yeah. Well done George *claps*- meant i really felt only joy when she passed away. On top of all this of course was just the fact that it was just tired cliche line after tired cliche line, throughout all the dialogue in the film.
Fan's of the series seemed to really like it. I suppose it was flashy and action packed with lots of fights and confrontation, and it rounded the story off. Design, sound FX, CG, music, all were brilliant. But I'm not a *huge* fan, so lightsabers, ship designs, and closure dont mean much to me. I look for well written dialogue, good acting, and character drama that makes me feel something, and, save from Palpatine, I didn't really get any from this film.
I'm glad people liked it though. I guess i'm just representing the other side lol, which is probably a minority. Once again, Palpatine was awesome. I'm almost tempted to agree with Dracula and say he deserves an award, in spite of my feelings for the rest of the film.
Love and peace 😛

I must admit, I thought it was a pretty lame movie... often dull, often inept, with occasional flashes of competence. The talented cast struggled but was, alas, ultimately subsumed.

For the past three movies, it seems like every time George Lucas is faced with a creative decision he makes the least interesting choice possible.

Glad others dug it, but I admit I'm kind of mystified by the widespread enthusiasm. My reactions were closer to the New Yorker's review than the New York Times.

I think the movie had the best fights in the entire Star Wars history, but that didn't make it the best film of the century. George Lucas did the best he could, but it wasn't enough. I think the reason George made everything so fast is obvious; he was running out of time. He had to put all this info into one movie; if he would have made every part of it as long as it should be, the movie might have scored 5 hours, and I personally was barelly capable of reaching the bathroom after the movie. 😛
I think he did a good job, but perhaps he could have taken some of Anakin's lines away in Episode 2, and put some info in there instead.

All together, the movie is a good finish for the Saga.

As much as I really enjoyed the movie,I was also wishing that they would have gave Christopher Lee a much bigger role here rather than the cameo that he was uncomfortably stuck with, for his fight with Anakin and Obi-Wan was indeed three minutes long, and Chris did utter a few lines about them being ready for him and his skills, for I would have prefereed Dooku to have fled away(after losing his hands)and then popping up later on that lava planet, where the other Separatists/Trade Federation members got slain.

George Lucas left it a mystery for us to figure out about the origin of Anakin's father upon whther Darths Sidius(Palpatine/the Emperor)or Plagieus were his father, since it was somewhat revealed that Anakin's dada was in fact one of those two Sith lords.

And,Uncle Owen didn't want Luke around Obi-Wan/Ben for fear of Luke becoming like his father(and following in his dark footsteps),which is what Owen and Beru both quickly sensed when Luke went looking for Artoo(way back in the very first movie, alias Episode 4:A New Hope).

I hope that answers your question.

One error i noticed. I believe in ROTJ, luke asked leia what she remembered of her mother, she said "not much, that she was sad all the time" or something to that degree. How could this be if she died during her childrens' birth. This is why i semi expected padme to be living for a while after the births.

Its a reference to Bail Organa's wife. Thats who Leia remembers. This type of discussion about Anakin's origins and Leia this and that really should be in the spoiler thread so someone doesn't read too far into this thread and read a random post and it happens to have spoilers and they haven't seen the movie yet..

I only care because I know what it feels like to have a movie spoiled for you, and its not a good feeling, especially when you're watching it.

Wow... just, wow...

I cant even begin to tell you the hype my buddys and I put on this movie... when i saw the "A long long time ago..." i practically exploded. I agree that it was a bit rushed, but i have to say that over all, it did not dissapoint. MAN was Palpatine manipulative! There were even some parts in there that I was questioning my standings! I'm not even going to get into the battles, all i can say is "amazing" :wooha: ! As exciting as it was, it was also sad... first that everyone (especially my Kel-Doran buddy Plo Koon :nerd: ) dies and second that it is the last one... that's it... no more Star Wars!

Well... better cut it off there. I could go on for an obscenely long time.

I agree - admitting that the Star Wars series are done and over really hurt. I remember watching the origional 3 movies with my dad and the rest of the familly when I was young; and it was always something we talked about. Now that its over, I feel like I lost something. 🙁

The reason why I think that the Sith Lord had nothing to do with the birth of Anakin is the fact that Anakin was found by accident; if Amidala's ship was not hit, they wouldn't have landed on Tatooin. (or however you spell that planet.)

wait for the DVD...they are always better than the studio release (premium version)....all the cut out parts are left in...I hate going to the cinema these days...!! the whole experience is controlled crap...just like concerts are...!! ...just no effin' fun at all anymore!

Revenge of the Thithy's....lol...!!

What do you mean by controlled

speaking of controlled....my mind is now being controlled....by mel brooks and his schwartz......::turns head and see's Blazing Saddles on tv:: The force is not strong with me, must watch!

Well, another dissapointment from George Lucas, but after Episodes one and two, I wasn't expecting much.

For a start, it has one of the most abysmal scripts ever:

"The Sith are evil!"
"From my point of view, the Jedi are evil."

And, as already been mentioned, the brain meltingly bad "She has lost the will to live" part. I mean, why not just say, "She got choked by her whiny husband" and save some credibility?

The lightsaber fights were well choreographed, but just as bland as ever. None of them had the electricity of the Luke-Vader showdown in the Empire Strikes Back. Through these three films, I've got some serious Lightsaber fatigue. Used over and over again for no real purpose.

We saw about a minute of the Wookie battle, before cutting away to some more inane banter. That battle could have had the coolness factor of RotJ, without the annoying Ewoks. But it was not to be. Lucas screws up again.

What the hell is this Grievous guy? The logic of introducing a new character for the final film escapes me. Christopher lee's character would have sufficed. Furthermore, he can't be all robot, because he coughs. If he coughs, he breathes, if he breathes, he dies when exposed to the vacuum of space. Simple as. Similarly, Anakin and Obi Wan should have been wasted by the whole pressure deal. Although saying that, Space obviously isn't a vacuum in Star Wars because you can hear sounds.

Since when did Robots feel pain? Since R2D2 zaps them with electricity, that's when. More comic crap. In fact, that whole opening sequence could have been cut out, with no major loss to the movie.

George Lucas has needed three films to tell the story of Anakin turning to the DARK SIDE (a phrase only used eighty times in the movie) and that happens in about ten minutes.

Revenge of the Sith also suffers from crap villain syndrome (CVS). I mean, Palpatine What. The. Fuck? "Fear my evil powers ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!" *R2D2 style ZAP!*
I'd always assumed he'd gone all wrinkly through years of drawing on evil force-ness. You can tell Ian McDermid regrets signing up for Return of the Jedi now.

Gah, so much wrong with the film, so little time. I'll leave you with a quote from the film that robs Darth Vader of any credibility:

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Yes!! That was a hilariously low point in an already lame film...

nero, many new chars were introduced officially, like bail organa(even tho he was in II, he only had a cameo)

They didnt introduce dooku till the II movie and all a sudden he was a major player. I believe grevious plays a big role in the game and back story line. Remember, even the credits say, the clone wars had been goin on for 3 years since episode II
