Just thought I'd let all fans of The Three Stooges know there's a marathon on AMC, this wednesday, Dec. 31st. It features all the old shorts from the boys, 12pm to midnight. I'm soitenley gonna tape it, you lunkheads!

Drew ....nyuk, nyuk, nyuk

An amazing story with these guys...and how life takes interesting turns. Larry was just inches away from pursuing a career as a concert violinist, and all told, he would've been highly successful.
I heard they were great, fun people...although Curly Joe did suffer from manic depression at times. I liked Shemp, I thought he was terrific...

That's right, Knox, and Larry had to take up the violin as a sort of physical threapy for his arm. Forgot whether he injured it or had a health issue, but the violin playing was suppose to help him recouporate.
Curley Joe was a big drinker, while Moe pretty much ran the entire 3 Stooges business. I'm also a big Shemp fan, he was very talented.

Or as Shemp might say: "heebheebheebheebheebheebheebheeb!"

Drew

Woo woo woo woo woo woo woo!

Oh, a wise guy! *bonk!* Nyahh-ahh-ahh-ahh!

Of course you realize, I have to pound you now... I've got the Stooges theme runnin' through my head now! I have a lot of Stooges WAV's on my computer, too... LoL

Hey Moe! *crash!*

You numbskull! I'll moider you!

Take it easy, Moe, he didn't mean it!

Yeah, I'm a victim of soicumstance!

~~~ Danimal, doin' the "Curly Shuffle" ~~~
LOLOLOL - I've SEEN Danimal doing the Curly Shuffle! Priceless!
I hadn't seen that there was a stooges marathon on so thanks for letting us know Ann. I grew up watching the stooges every day after school. Of course my favorite was the one where they are captured by the cave women, tied to the stakes and their feet tickled!
Well I know what I'll be recording tomorrow!
Jan, that episode is called "Space Ship Sappy" and I remember breaking out in a cold sweat seeing it for the first time as a small boy.
By the way, there seems to be some reference to "Curly Joe" in the previous posts, but I think you guys are referring to Curly Howard. Just to give you a little more useless information, here are all the stooges as I remember them...
Moe Howard - Real name Moses Horowitz. Ill tempered leader of the group known for his cereal bowl haircut and violent reciprocations.
Larry Fine - Real name Louis Feinberg. Wooly haired middle guy who really doesn't say much.
Curly Howard - Real name Jerry Horowitz. Most believe that Curly was the original third stooge because he appeared first in the Columbia shorts. But before Columbia, the original third stooge was
Shemp Howard - Real name Samuel Horowitz. Original third stooge, but decided to pursue a more serious acting career. When Columbia made their offer, Moe's and Shemp's younger brother Jerry cut off his hair and became Curly. Later when Curly's health was failing, Shemp took the spot of the third stooge in the Columbia shorts.
Joe - Real name Joe Besser. Replaced Shemp in the fifties as the third stooge. He was kind of a whiney baby, and not really very funny in my opinion. Space Ship Sappy was produced during this era.
Curly Joe - Real name Joe Derita. Looked a little like Curly Howard but had none of the flamboyant "poi-sonality" of Curly. Curly Joe was the third stooge during the 1960's and appeared in the Three Stooges cartoon.
So let me get this straight...
There were actually three actors who portrayed the character "Curly", and I was unaware of this bit of trivia? My Stooges kung fu is much weak!
Drew70 is right about 3 different Curly's.
Joe Besser kinda got on my nerves.....even when he played "Stinky" on The Abbott and Costello show.
Joe Derita was too boring to be a Stooge, Shemp was still the best replacement for the original Curly Joe.
I also remember that episode of "SpaceShip Sappy" and the foot tickling scene. Definetly had an effect on me, although I always thought The Stooges shoulda got revenge on the Venus gals and tie them up and tickle their feet.
....Yeah. I've been looking for a copy of this for 30 years. I've never seen it on AMC either. If anyone nows where I could get a copy..
When I was a little kid, I'd go into a trance when I'd see it.
:veryhappy
This is a David Letterman style Top Ten list of lost Three Stooges episodes. A couple of friends of mine created this and a bunch of other top ten lists.
The Top 10 List of Lost Three Stooges Episodes:
10) “Three Macs and Some Crack” – The Stooges play three incompetent crack dealers who go door to door selling their wares. Trouble ensues when they knock on the door of the Chief of Police (Vernon Dent) who busted them earlier in a sting operation. (DS)
9) “Curly’s a Girly” – Our favorite Stooge goes into the hospital for a troublesome goiter operation but due to a zany surgical mix-up, Curly comes out of the operating room with a serious hankerin’ for some Moe.
8) “Shemp Fiction” – Shemp goes berserk after being humiliated by Moe. He overpowers Moe, strips his clothes, ties him up and “brutalizes” him for hours, the whole time screaming, “Why, you oughtta what, fuck boy?!! You oughtta what?!!”
7) “Cruisin’ Stooges” – Our three boys get lost on their way to a night janitor stint and end up in a leather bar. Moe is beside himself with frustration as he tries every punch, poke, kick, and slap he knows to ward off the patrons and only succeeds in becoming the most popular guy there.
6) “Shemp’s Hemp” – That stringy haired Stooge adopts an infatuation for cannabis. While at a fancy-shmancy restaurant, Shemp gets the munchies. Then Shemp makes the oftentimes-fatal mistake of taking food off of Moe’s plate and Moe sticks a well-aimed fork in his head. (DS)
5) “Meetcha at Nietzsche’s” – The Stooges are having a dark and somber conversation with Frederick Nietzsche about the nothingness of life and how life exists just for man to die. Moe was relating about how the essence of man is evil but that man struggles to be good. Larry was relating how the essence of man is good but with a propensity to do evil. Curly, of course, hits them all in the face with several banana crème pies.
4) “Das Stooge” – The Stooges stowaway on an airplane and end up in Berlin, where Moe is mistaken for Hitler and takes charge of that office while the real Hitler is away on vacation. Soon thereafter, the German armies are decimated in a string of darkly hilarious battles because their rifles have been replaced with seltzer bottles and ice tongs.
3) “Moprah” – Larry writes a tell all book and appears with Curly and Moe on a talk show known for its pathetic, self-pitying, loud mouthed guests who blame everyone else for their own problems. Moe secretly places an order from a local bakery and the stage soon becomes Banana Cream Pie City.
2) “Angst in the Pants” – The Stooges are released from jail after several years of incarceration for destruction of private property due to their bumbling antics. Feeling rather randy, they are caught propositioning a trio of hookers. The guys are hauled off to jail again but not before their carnal tensions are relieved in a scene that is a bit too graphic to describe. Suffice it to say that the scene included a makeshift plywood pillory, some rope and three sets of ben-wa balls.
1) “Stooge Trek” – The trio is abducted by a space ship, where a pointy-eared first officer locks them all in a cell with three phasers set to stun. With tears in his eyes, he explains to his captain, between fits of laughter, “The bumbling accidents and vengeful reciprocations of these creatures is really quite hysterical!”
:::wiping tears from my eyes to type this:::
OMG, Drew, that was F@#&ing hysterical! Whatta ya tryin' to do, kill me? Yikes! BTW, don't you ever check your PM's?
Hey, Hey, Spread out......who do you mugs think you are...anyhow?
Drew......."Knock it off or I'll marinate ya!"
If I'm not mistaken...
There were two episodes where they did that bit. And leave us not forget the one where the lion is licking Moe's foot while he's sleeping!
Being a long time F/M enthusiest, I can tell you that there are two episodes of the Stooges in which one or more of the guys are tickled by females. Jan already mentioned Space Ship Sappy, in which all three are tied to stakes and tickle-tortured for a lengthy duration. One thing about that episode that I find interesting is that when the guys first encounter the three Space Amazons, the professeur in the space ship warned them via loudspeaker, "Stay avay from zem! Zey vill love you to death!" How interesting and prophetic that tickling was equated with love.
The only other F/M tickling seen from the Stooges was in an episode called "Hugs'n'Mugs." The guys are operating a furniture upholstery shop. Unbeknownst to the stooges, there is a stolen diamond necklace hidden in the uphostery of one of the pieces of furniture in the shop. Three gorgeous "dames" show up looking for the necklace. They decide to each take a stooge, and try and search him for the necklace. One beautiful brunette with a French accent sits on a couch with Shemp and is flirting with him. She begins slipping her hands in and out of Shemp's shirt pockets.
Shemp squirms a little and says, "Oh please don't do that. You see, I can't stand being tickled."
"Oh, you cannot stand to be teekle, eh?" she asks menacingly, then attacks Shemp's torso, vigorously tickling him well beyond his endurance. It's an absolutely wonderful scene, and she shows no mercy whatsoever and Shemp just goes ballistic with tortured laughter.
AMC stands for "American Movie Classics". It's a network that shows a lot of older movies and tv shows. I don't think it's available outside the USA...unless you have a dish, in which case, I'd check with your sattelite provider to see what channel they may have it on.
Ann
Happy New Year to you as well, Cosquillero. The Three Stooges used to be on a regular time slot on American Movie Classics a few years back. Including the now infamous "Spaceship Sappy" episode. I don't think they're showing them every night anymore like they used to.
Still, The Stooges have a worldwide fan base and I've heard countries around the world show their old comedies. Hopefully Venezuela television will pick them up again sometime. I notice they disappear from t.v. for a year or two, then somebody picks up on them.
"A simple job for simple people, nyuk,nyuk,nyuk,"
