No. It's really not. Light bulbs don't use nearly the same amount of water and they don't steal money from hardworking artists just for the sake of someone else's LAZINESS.

No, but you could make the argument that candle artisans were hurt by light bulbs. And, there were probably more mineral extraction needed fir light bulb production.

I think that the real solution would be to develop and use this technology in a different way (its good to analyze big data for example). Unfortunately, Its still not completely trustworthy but people are believing in it a lot. Personally, I don't like it and I don't use it but its difficult to speak with others about the problems related to it. First of all: if I always have to check if its output is correct, I prefer to do the task by myself.

A cousin of mine works for an advertising company, and last Xmas she told me that a corporate client had recently gotten them to conduct a kind of strategic review of the real estate market trends. The task puzzled her much because, quite obvious, any reliable analytical research required a lot of time and a great deal of work performed by a special agency, so, having their three-day deadline looming, they resorted to an AI tool that created a page of more or less coherent text full of buzzwords like "expected volatility" and "the uncertainty of the market". I only asked her, if the customer company was satisfied with that AI gibberish, and she said they were perfectly happy. It was news to me that a business document could be AI compilation rubbish, so we both poked fun that such a work should be paid by candy wrappers, or monopoly money.

Just stop. It's lazy, it's environmentally irresponsible and it takes money away from decent, hard working artists and puts it into the hands of thieving scumbags who care about nothing but making money.
Agreed. I do think AI, with further work can be used safely, but not for creative endevaors like art, writing and music. A large problem with especially Generative AI is that it can be lied to very easily. There's little to no fact checking programming or code implemented, and its a piece of tech/science that's been rushed into far too quickly.

Well if you think about it, these AI companies are offering their AI services at a loss. So the more you use them, the more money you are taking away from them

I assume that's partially why the AI bubble is starting to burst. They're wasting resources rather than trying to make something more enviromentally concious.

Nah the bubble isn’t really starting to burst though. Not to get all economics but you’ll see if it starts to burst when hyperscalers cut their capex by huge amounts, which has yet to happen. In fact they’ve continually been increasing capex

I agree for the most part. AI has a way of diminishing organic, intellectual thought. As a college student I see peers using it a good amount and that’s just not my thing - plus as the OP said it affects artistic merits including music. It does have its good points, like helping older adults with daily tasks and smart homes are becoming a thing, but overall AI for most of us can be problematic
