storing clips?

I've only bought a few clips online, but I was thinking of how they might be stored. Do people store them on hard drives, or USB's, or burn cd's/dvd's?

Mine are saved on a harddisk and then also backed up on DVDS 🙂

I've saved all of ours to CD....about 30 of them so far. Things can happen to hard drives...esp. in areas where you get a lot of electrical storms or have a ratty electric company. At least CDs don't get trashed with a lightning strike.

For those who are thinking "Holy shit! I wish I had that many!", you should know that most were gathered free through various yahoo groups, etc...though we do have a good number of them from pay sites as well. And before anyone asks...sorry but they aren't able to be shared at this point. But, once life settles down and I have time to get them organized, I do plan to get them better organized and share those that aren't restricted. The mainstream ones will come first. No telling how soon this will be, though.

I burn on CD's, in a weeks time I'm going to buy a DVD-burner, then it will be on DVD

I just started backing mine up to DVD. I used to just purge them every month or so!

You have no idea how many clips I've gotten rid of that I'll never see again!

Yeah you can get an external hard drive (USB or firewire) or DVD burner pretty cheap now (compared to what it used to be.)

Actually I think some of those external hard drives come with built in security packages so you have to enter a password to view the contents.
