I know I haven't been on here in a long while but I've been busy with work among other things. I used to watch this show and I thought it was very interesting and entertaining. The show had two hosts, Jonathan Frakes and James Brolin. I think it showed four or five different stories & the viewers were supposed to guess if the stories were real or fake. This story I wanted to get people's opinion on because it was very hard for me to believe. The only thing that I can guess what happened to this poor kid is that a protective ghost or another supernatural creature took him to another dimension. I know the story is a little long but I think it's worth watching.

The closet is symbolic...

There is nothing "supernatural" about that closet. It was probably about a boy(with homosexual tendencies) - who was into a boy, and now he is gone; due to conflict, lack of interest. Have you ever met a guy and found out he was an asshole, and wish he was gone?

I feel that way with some single girls that I am attracted too; they are hot, but they have to go... Disappear into my "closet" - symbolically...

I didn't say the closet was supernatural. I said I think there was a supernatural being IN the closet that got him and took him to the other side or something of that nature.

I understand now...

Scary "supernatural" beings that exist due to fear and not objectivity. I love magic shows! And, the best magician starts young! 😀

It's a shame that haven't got more comments on this thread. I know it's weird and I guess a lot of people are maybe too shocked or stunned to make comments about it.

I remember watching that show! I liked watching it along with Ripley's. But, anyways I vaguely remember that episode. If the show classified it as True then based on the information that they were provided I'm not willing to dispute it since I don't know any of the real facts.

Now, is it possible for someone regardless of age to physically disappear in a closet not to be found? Yes. It could be possible that there was a secret door inside. All I know is that if I was in the presence of that phenomenon I would be greatly disturbed! And I don't think I would ever go into that closet again, maybe after the doors are removed or the person who disappeared reappeared. But, as for myself even though I've never knowingly witnessed anything close to that in person I'm not going to rule out the supernatural possibility.

Though I don't necessarily believe that this was anything but a work of fiction, personally. Throw in an unbelievable "fact" here and there to mess with people's minds and keep them interested in the show.

Yeah I am actually glad you said that Speedbump because there's a quote that someone said about that event on Internet Movie Database. I highlighted & copied a quote from that person because I don't think I could've said it better myself.

Here's what was said:

the whole thing was made up except for the truth the kid vanished from the closet. one of the 3 writers responsible for this segment said back in 2006 that that they made stuff up even on the factual segments. They were based on factual stories but the story shown on tv was made up. According to the writer sometime after the show aired they looked up more info on the store and discovered the kid had managed to escape through the ceiling and made his way out the attic and out the outside of the house. Apparently he left behind his shoes, shirt and jacket. Maybe it was easier escaping without them on. He ran away from home and it wasn't the first time he had run away from home. He'd done it several times. He was later found at a friend's house and he went back home.

I also want to say that I guess the stories that the show said were true were embellished some to make it more scary and interesting. I mean even movies that say they're based on actual events are embellished to some degree.

Someone a while back said that the stories counted as "fact" so long as the shows writers themselves didn't come up with it. It didn't have to be confirmed to have actually happened. Which seems counterproductive.
