How do you stay calm or get over stress situations or nervousness?

for me i just try to listen to music and stay calm and relazed. before i know that i have to something that i'm nervous about during the next Day! either music or pray as well.

There's No Such Thing As Stress..

Or a stressful situation. It's just a bunch of BS psychobabble for those trying to dodge responsibility for what they do.

That particular definition doesn't apply to all stressful situations. Often, one can encounter stress by trying to take on too much responsibility. (Though to some extent, I agree with the concept of psychobabble.)

Since there's no such thing as stress one cannot get it by taking on too much responsibility.

You, my friend, must have led a very easy life... either that or you must have a tremendous ego... My money's actually on the second possibility....

If I have a presentation to do at work, the best way is just to prepare the best you can. I treat things like that as if it will be my last if it doesn't go well and it would impact my family. Try to anticipate some questions that will be fired your way and research the answers you will provide.

Other things is that you just start dealing with things one by one. I find dealing with the easiest stuff first is the best way to make that mountain into a molehill.

You're kidding, right? (Honestly, I can't tell.) If you're not...

I thought my response suggested clearly enough that it does exist, as opposed to being an invention used to evade responsibility, though sometimes that certainly is the case. Stress is a feeling of pressure. It exists. Often one can relieve or even prevent it, but it exists. I know from experience, as I'm sure most people do.

There can be many different kinds of stress. Even when one is having great success in their lives, stress can exist. I remember two semesters in particular in college where I made Dean's List, and the whole darn year was stressful because I was taking a ton of credits, and set a goal to get an A on my senior thesis, a goal I achieved I might add. So, I was not "dodging" my responsibility for what I had to do, as Neutron suggested, but rather putting excess pressure on myself, because I knew that paper was the biggest project of my life, and I wanted to do really well. To me, there are two kinds of stress, one internal when a person puts excess pressure on themselves, and then external from boss,co worker, family, etc. Stress exists all over, and we all have it to varying degrees, and deal with it in different ways.
I deal with stress in varying ways. Either by coming to TMF and chatting with good friends, or listening to music, or writing letters, or even spending time at a movie. I find that by doing these things, I can lose myself and take my mind off any stressful situation. I just try to forget the stress when I'm doing those fun and relaxing activities.
