Go to the "Tickling Folklore" thread. You will find mention of "Z Therapy", invented by a shrink named Zaslow, which featured tickling. There was one article about it in Newsweek in 1973, then nary another mention of it. Knowledgeable people I talked to at the time thought it was bogus.
