How do you represent "tickling" into an image?

This is the question I'm been pondering for a while now.
Yeah, I know. A feather. A feather is great, but I want something different.

I want something more ... mysterious ... but still makes sense, ya know?

Anybody want to help a girl out?

Someone put forward the idea of a neuron tree in a tattoo thread a while back. I thought it was an interesting take on the whole sensation aspect associated with tickling. Kinda mysterious too.

How do you turn a Sonicare from an electric tooth-cleaning instrument to a mysterious object of tickling?

Simple, you photoshop it, adjust the colours, add a little bit of motion blur, and hey presto!

😉

Interesting question... I was playing around with some ideas and made a few (bad) sketches.

At first I thought about basing a graphic on an exclamation point, to convey the excitement of a tickle. Maybe you could make it look like the top part of it is tickling the dot at the bottom, somehow... maybe the dot could have a smile on it, and there could be little marks around it to indicate motion, or sweat drops coming off it... something like this:

Then I thought maybe the top part could look more like a finger coming down to tickle the dot. Also, maybe the dot could look like the planet Earth (although that might be a bit complicated)

Then I started to redraw the top part, and I realized that a simple drawing of a finger with a fingernail, also could kind of look like a laughing face, especially if you add a few lines at the top that could either be eyes and eyebrows for a face, or... IDK... knuckle wrinkles or hairs for a tickling finger or a tickled toe!

Just a few ideas off the top of my head, maybe you can make something good out of them...

Oooh I really like that!

Not sure I understand the request, but it is interesting. Why "symbolize" tickling in an image when you can just as easily portray it directly? Is this for letterhead stationery? Symbols are just that,...... symbols, and as such they always fall short of actual experience. Symbols too often are the currency of politicians and advertisers.

And while feathers are not exactly the best implement for the job, they still connote the act, and that might be the most you can expect of a symbol. I'm not happy with it, either, rest assured. But whatcha gonna do? I think the image of a feather superimposed over a sexy bare sole would be a powerful graphic,.... but again, for what purpose? Are we trying to be subtle or to sell something?

If it's just for fun, here's an old idea I came up with years ago,..... Susan and I liked to take our play to more complex places. I made a deck of playing cards, but instead of the usual suits of hearts, spades, diamonds and clubs,.. my suits were high heels, bare feet, ropes and feathers. We played poker with them, the outcome of each hand leading to some little event suggested by the suits in the winning hand (alright, this was, at best, a highly nuanced calculation) But the "symbols" on the cards did their job,.... they were just pictures,...... and you know what a single picture is supposed to be worth.

I'm sorry!
I should have been specific with my post. I am thinking of tattoo ideas.

See now that is interesting. I like where you are going with the exclamation point. It's subtle and makes sense. I need to think more on that one.

I think that is amazing! Take a simple tickle tool and turn it into a blur of motion. I get that.

I remember seeing that years ago.
It's a nice concept on paper. But I'd want to the tattoo to be more soft, and light.

So then I start brainstorming:
Okay, what makes things tickle us?
  • Fingers
  • Brushes (Paint brushes, make-up brushes., etc...)
  • Tongues
And then you have things like:
  • Tentacles
  • Tickle monsters
  • Vines

What do we fantasy about when we think of tickling?
    What do you see?
I see smiles, laughter, goosebumps, fingers.

I just know it's out there!
    Brainstorm with me!

I understand what we're looking for here. An abstract symbol that embodies what we see in our mind's eye when the word 'tickling' comes to mind. Personally, I think a stylised image of a feather would work well; 'simple is best' and all that. But then, not everyone is 'feather-ticklish' so maybe it doesn't work as well on a broader scale.

How about restraints? Stocks, or maybe handcuffs? Maybe it's not just about the things we can use to tickle, it could also be the devices used to hold someone in place while tickling them....Just a thought! 🙂

Much as I love helping ladies out in the tickle department, I'll give it a shot! :cheesy:

I like the idea of the neuron with dendritic projections. You could fashion it into an exclamation point shape by incorporating the synapse as the junction btw the line & the dot!

I remember this discussion a while back of finding an innocuous identifying symbol for tickle-philes like us. But I think we're just too rare a breed to be finding each other randomly.

I think it goes without saying Aimee but I'd looove to see this tattoo of which you speak :cheesy:

I thought about bondage. And I love restraints, rope, chains. It's all fantastic.
But when you see handcuffs you either think: police or kink.

We are rare. But I know it's there! I know it!

A picture or drawing of wriggling fingers, a hand holding a soft feather, laughing facial expressions.

How about this tattooed across your back? "The Creation of Tickling"

Creation of Tickling 3.png

...or...

some kind of cross between a feather, an exclamation point, and a lightning bolt (because a tickle is a feathery touch that is exciting and electric.)

Magenta? Seriously? C'mon, GOD,... we're not trying to be deliberately conspicuous, here. And for that matter, what the hell is going on under Adam's right butt cheek?

As suggested by KittenToes and realized by the extremely talented Cap'n Mad some years ago.

Already extant Universal BDSM symbol contrasted with the tickling symbol

Why not go the anarchist route? Take a capital T which represents tickling, and draw a circle around it; the circle represents cohesiveness. Then draw two nipples and a dick. C.A.B., is this possible in your artistic and imaginary mind? The transvestites have not promoted that yet I hope!? At least not symbolically... You do the research. :jester:

Lovely! It is like, "yin-yang; Oh! fuck me!"

-- I spat out my beer at that one!!! :rowfull:

I look fwd to our artists here mocking up a tattoo. And as sexy as some places for ladies to place such a tattoo, I would imagine it would have to be placed on a conspicuous part of their hot ticklish bodies! :happyfloa

Once we come up with a symbol, we can put it around town or on our doors (Hobbit style) so that we all know where we are welcome, and our skills needed!

If I ever decide to get a tattoo, that would be so perfect!
