"Technical" question.........
.....well, it is for me, lets put it like that. I have tried to download clips many times but quite often I am told that my system "does not support the format" or something like that. I have windows ME and windows media player. Also i have installed quick time.

I have had a look on the "help" pages and it says"Note Windows Media Player supports files created with Apple QuickTime version 1 and 2. Windows Media Player no longer supports the .ra, .rm, and .ram file formats. "

Is this the reason a lot of stuff will not play? and if so how do I make the .ra, .rm, and .ram file formats work? do i have to download something else?

Probably school boy stuff to all you Stephen Hawkings types, whizzing about in your turbo wheel chairs and talking with a bogus american accent.

Yes. You need to download Real Player to play .rm, .ram, and .ra files. A free version can be downloaded from the real player website at www.realplayer.com (be sure you click the small link in the upper right hand corner that says "Free RealPlayer"...do not download the 14 day free trial they have plastered all over the site. That one will stop working after 14 days).

Thanks.........

......Q and mimi for your advice. If only I had seen the site Q mentions before I signed!! but thankyou both for you tips.

Uninstall and reinstall

You're allowed to do so...lol. You probably should also pick up Ad Aware for spyware removal. It's a fairly simple straightforward free download that removes nearly all of these annoying little scripts and bots. Do a google search for other freebies if you don't like that one, but I'd rather run without a virus scanner than a spyware program these days...damn things are getting out of hand.

:sowrong: Q

Adware Is Crap..

And always has been.

Get Spybot, It's simpler than Adware, and finds the nasty crap Adware doesn't even look for. I have both, (plus WEbRoot) and Spybot runs circles around Adware, plus it's updated about twice weekly.

Thanks Neuty.....

....for the tip. I have the full Norton package, fire wall and anti virus. This other stuff you mention, what does it do for me exactly, that the norton package does not do?

RI: Norton Firewall blocks bad stuff from entering and keeps any bad stuff on your computer from sending stuff out of your computer. Anti-Virus scans for and protects against Viruses.

The Programs Tron speaks of go after Spyware, little programs and or files that send information about your computer and what you do on it to other people. Norton DOES NOT do this.

Be careful with spybot if you are not technically minded as it wil ID a lot of files that you will not want to destroy....If you dont know what you are looking at ad aware works fine.....

I run both and each one picks up stuff that the other misses...no one
program gets them all...
