[It took me a while to figure out where to post this. And I'm still not sure.
Mods, please let me know if this thread is not appropriate here]
Hey everyone - I posted a while back about my busted hard drive (still busted, whatever). Anyway, I found some CD-R that had some old video clips on it.
My problem that I keep getting the terrifying 'Blue Screen' AKA BSoD when I try to play realplayer video files (*.rm, *.ram, etc). It doesn't happen all the time & I think it occurs with older files.
I'm not techie, but I read up on it somewhat; realized it's some conflict btw my operating system & video software. I have Windows 7, but that's all I know about that. So far, I've tried playing it in VLC player but that doesn't work (I don't get the BSoD but VLC freaks out & gives an incomprehensible error message). I have a file converter software & tried to convert *.rm to another video format, but that didn't work either.
I was wondering if anyone knows about this problem & has any advice. I tried asking online on some tech forum & got mostly obnoxious unhelpful replies (burn your PC & buy a MAC, uninstall RealPlayer "forever," delete all your files, etc).
Thanks so much.
