1993: March 13–14 – The Great Blizzard of 1993 strikes the eastern U.S., bringing record snowfall and other severe weather all the way from Cuba to Quebec; it reportedly kills 184.

January 6th: Nancy Kerrigan is clubbed on the knee by orders of Tonya Harding's ex husband.

May 12th: Ice Hockey becomes Canada's official winter sport.

June 17th: O. J. Simpson flees police on a car chase, but surrenders at his home.

July 15 thru 21: The Planet Jupiter is hit with 21 fragments from Comet Shoemaker-Levy9.

September 8th:US Air Flight 427 a Boeing 737 crashes and kills132 people while trying to land at Pittsburgh International Airport.

November 13th: The Channel Tunnel opens to passengers.
